Indian cricketers have found a few days off due to the suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This has allowed them to stay at their homes with their loved ones before they take off to England for their next tour.

They are scheduled to fly may-end for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC), followed by the England series.

The issue in hand for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is about the vaccinatio??n of the players, started last week.

According to a report, all players are advised to get vaccinated with Covishield before their departure.

From the 1st of May, the Indian Government has opened vaccinations for everyone above the age of 18, and the cricketers fall within the ??bracket. With the IPL being called off for the time being and the players having left the bio-bubble, they can get themselves vaccinated in their respective places.

โ€œNow that they have time, they will do it individually since the (state) governments (are) getting the vaccinations done. They all g??o to their respective homes, so itโ€™s an easier option that way,โ€?/em> BCCI P?resident Sourav Ganguly stated in an interview with the Indian Express.

The team members would not have enough time before their departure to get the second dose. Therefore, the Indian players are suggest?ed to get themselves Covishield shots since it is based on the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, a United Kingdom (UK) product available in England.

A source reported, โ€??œIt is advised that they take Covishield in India because it is based on the AstraZeneca vaccine, a UK product. They may get the second shot in the UK. Getting a different vaccine here is of no use.โ€?/em>

It is a settled fact that one person can get?? two doses of the same vaccine. Hence the Indian crick??eters are advised to get a Covishield shot.

betvisa liveSaurav Ganguly – Cricket Times - betvisa live //betvisa69.com/2021/05/sri-lanka-cricket-offers-bcci-to-host-the-remaining-ipl-2021/ Sat, 08 May 2021 09:30:40 +0000 //betvisa69.com/?p=55211

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has offered the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host the remaining Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in September.

IPL was earlier suspended indefinitely due to rising coronavirus cases in the league. Since then, several organisations have shown their keenness to host the cash-rich league. SLC also has come forwa?rd with their proposal. Last year, the SLC had shown interest in the competition, but the BCCI went ahead with UAE.

In an interview with the Deccan Chronicle, SLC chief of the managing committee, Arjuna de Silva, said that they could ‘certainly provide a window’ to have the league in September.

“Yes, we can certainly provide a window to host the IPL in the month of September. We hear the UAE (United Arab Emirates) is their one option but Sri Lanka can not be ignored for all reasons.”

“We are planning to host the Lanka Premier League (LPL) in July-August and the grounds and other infrastructure will be ready for the IPL in September.”

The biggest hassle for BCCI is to find a slot that can accommodate the remaining part of the league. BCCI President Saurav Ganguly, recently cleared the board will talk with oth??er committees to see if a window can be made available for completing the remaining matches before the T20 World Cup. He also stated that the board could face INR 2500 crore loss if the league is not concluded.

Strangely enough, there are no Sri Lankan players in the IPL. Only Muttiah Muralitharan, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumara Sangakkara are part of the tournament?, that too, as a member of the coaching sta??ff.

It is yet to be decided if the league can be completed later this year, and also if it is conducted will the BCCI take the offer of SLC. According to the reports, the Indian board is c??onsiderin??g staging the remaining part of the league in the UAE.

The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI),on Tuesday in an emergency meeting with the Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC), decid??ed to suspend the ongoing IPL 2021 due to a surge in th??e Covid-19 cases across various franchises.

The deadly virus broke into bio-bubbles to affect Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Delhi Capitals (DC) players and staff.

While Lakshmipathy Balaji fell prey to the novel coronavirus, Wriddhiman Saha and Amit Mishra also tested positive in their R?T-PCR tests on Tuesday?.

Earlier, Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier had become victims to the pandemic, and the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was rescheduled.

After suspending the T20 league, BCCI and IPL GC officials are pondering what to do next since the former stands to lose in excess?? of INR 2000 crores, mainly from the broadcasting revenue.

When asked about the same, chairman of the IPL Brajesh Patel said they are contempla??ting holding the T20 lea?gue in September but will have to also coordinate with ICC and other boards.

“Now we have to look for a window. If we get one, we will explore holding it. We’ll have to see if it is possible in September. We need to examine the plans of the ICC and other boards,” Patel told Cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, the T20 World Cup is also scheduled from October 18 to November 15, with uncertainty on the venue. While India are the designated hosts, UAE has been taken as a stand by to address any p??andemic complicati??ons.

Former India all-rounder and hero of 2011 Cricket World Cup, Yuvraj Singh, has revealed that MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli didn’t support him more as a captain like the way Sourav Ganguly did.

Yuvraj made his debut under Ganguly’s captaincy against Australia in the Champions Trophy in 2000. He also played under Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Dhoni and Kohli at different times in his career, but when it comes to choosing the best leader, Yuvi went with ‘Prince of Kolkata’ – Sourav Ganguly.

“I have played under Sourav (Ganguly) and had a lot of support from him. Then Mahi (MS Dhoni) took over. It’s a difficult choice to make between Sourav and Mahi. I have more memories of time under Sourav because of the support he gave me. I didn’t have that kind of support from Mahi and Virat (Kohli),” said Yuvraj as quoted by Sportstar.

The 38-year-old also reckoned that the Kohli-led team needs a ‘good guy’ who can talk to the players about their issues so that they can further improve. Yuvraj took the name of Paddy Upton and said he is a kind of guy that India needs currently as he can talk to the players about their off-the-field issues and help them accordingly.

“This Indian team needs a good guy who can talk to them on matters off the field. Their off-the-field issues reflect on their on-field performances. What they need is a psychologist of authority who can guide them in personal issues,” added Yuvraj.

“Make them better persons. We had Paddy Upton who would discuss other issues of life, like fear of failure, and it helped us so much. The team probably needs someone like him,” the Chandigarh-born added further.

Yuvi last played for India in an ODI against West Indies on June 30, 2017. Overall, the Punjabi cricket??er has played 40 Tests, 304 ODIs and 58 T20 Internationals for his nation, in which he has clubbed 1900, 8701, and 1177 run??s, respectively.

Amid the Coronavirus outbreak, many public figures are stepping forward to help the government and support the needy. Recently, Irfan Pathan revealed that he, along with his brother Yusuf Pathan would? donate 4000 masks to the Vadodara health department.

??Now, the BCCI president Saurav Ganguly has come forward to help those who are severely affected by the 21-day lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fo??rmer Indian captain has promised to donate rice worth Rs 50 lakh for the underprivileged.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) issued a statement and thanked Ganguly for his “humanitarian” gesture.

“It is heartening to note that Sourav Ganguly, along with Lal Baba Rice, has come forward to provide free rice worth Rs 50 lacs to the needy people who have been put in government schools for safety and security,” CAB said in a statement as quoted by The Indian Express.

Earlier, the CAB also announced a donation of Rs 25 lakh towards t??he State Emergency Relief Fund amid the?? global crisis.

“We have decided to donate Rs 25 lakhs for now to the State Emergency Relief Fund to be used in combating this disease. As a responsible institution, it is our duty to stand by the administration and help them eradicate this disease,” said CAB President Avishek Dalmiya.

Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg was recently in India for the Road Safety World Series, but due to Covid-19, it got postponed, and fans couldn’t see the magic of Hogg again on the field. The chinaman was a part of the Australia Legends team headed by Brett Lee.

In the meantime, Hogg had a fun interaction with his fans on social media platform, Twitter, where he faced several quest??ions and answered as many as possible. One of the fans asked Hogg to rate the Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super?? League.

The veteran spinner replied to the query and rated both the leagues 9 out? of 10 as he opined that the PSL bought the game back to Pakistan, whereas the IPL has the h?ighest viewership worldwide.

Another fan asked the Aussie whether he would be comfortable with an IPL format based on the recently concluded ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, where there are four teams in two groups each and the top two from both groups play the semi-final with two best teams qualifying for the finals.

The fan further passed a ??suggestion of doing away with the home and away format and limit the nu??mber of venues because that would benefit the tournament and one can also get a fair competition.

Hogg quoted the tweet and referred it to the current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. He also mentioned BCCI and took forward the fan’s suggestion for rescheduling the tournament in such a manner which will not only save expenses but will also minimize health risks.

England skipper Joe Root ha?s clarified that his players will not be shaking hands on their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka in a bid to avoid the coronavirus threat.

The English player expressed instead of shaking hands, players will greet each other with fist bumps – a gesture of greeting or affirmation in which two people lightly tap each other’s clenched fist.

Recently, when England toured South Africa, their players were hit by a series of gastr??oen??teritis and flu problems.

“After the illnesses that swept through the squad in South Africa, we are well aware of the importance of keeping contact to a minimum, and we’ve been given some really sound and sensible advice from our medical team to help prevent spreading germs and bacteria,” said Root as quoted by HT.

“We are not shaking hands with each other, using instead the well-established fist bump, and we are washing hands regularly and wiping down surfaces using the anti-bacterial wipes and gels we’ve been given in our immunity packs.”

On tour to Sri Lanka, which begins from March 07, England will first pla??y two practice games, followed by the two-match Tests series, which will be a part of the ICC Worl??d Test Championship (WTC).

Root claimed that due to these preparations with respect to avoiding viruses, the Sri Lanka tour wouldn’t be affected at all.

“There is no suggestion that the tour will be affected, but of course, it is an evolving situation, so we are in regular contact with the authorities and will proceed as advised, but at this stage we fully expect the tour to continue as planned.”

Last time England toured Sri Lanka in 2018 when the English team won the three-match Test series 3-0. ?However, Root is expecting a harder challenge this time.

“The conditions will be a bit different with the time of year we are going this time. The three games we played out there last time were all very close with less than 60 runs between the teams in the last two Tests. It was an exceptional performance last time, and I think we can take a lot of confidence from that in terms of how to play out there.”

Not only R??oot but also the former Indian captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is also concerned about the deadly disease. As per a BCCI source, Ganguly will not attend the upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Dubai, scheduled for March 3, due to the coronavirus threat.

According to media reports, in the last few days, aroun?d 730 cases of coronavirus were reported in the UAE, which created pani??c among travelers and locals.

The auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 saw the pure domination of Australian players. They initiated the bidding war amongst franchises. From Glenn Maxwell to Nathan Coulter-Nile, Aussie players were all over in the auction. However, the real star in the auction was Australia’s speedster Pat Cummins, who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at a jaw-dropping price of INR 15.50 crores.

Cummins didn’t play the last season due to the preparations of World Cup 2019, but this time it was on the cards that he might turn out to be the most expensive buy and what exactly happened. He started a bidding war between KKR, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). The bid just kept going up, and in the end, KKR won the contest and became the proud franchise of the Australian fast bowler.

On one hand, people were surprised by the whopping amount Cummins got, however, on the other hand,?? BCCI President Saurav Ganguly justified t??he considerable amount that KKR invested in getting the Aussie pacer.

“No, I don’t think (Cummins’ price being too high). It has a lot to do with demand. Especially these small auctions bringing players in go after go. Ben Stokes became a part of this small auction, and that’s why his value went off the roof of 14 crores,” said Ganguly.

Often referred to as ‘Dada’, Ganguly said that the pitch at Eden Gardens suits pacers; therefore, Cummins is the right choice for Knight Riders.

“KKR on this hard, green pitch at Eden where there are pace and bounce for the fast bowlers. I think there was a competition between Delhi Capitals and KKR till the last, and Delhi Capitals gave up after a certain point (Rs15 crore). So, I think it’s about supply and demand all the time,” added Ganguly.
