Bangladesh registered a seven-wicket triumph over Ireland in the one-off Test at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday. This match was also the final appearance of Aleem Dar, the veteran Pakistan umpire.

Dar, who was named the best umpire in the world for three successive years from 2009-11, has officiated in a record 435 men’s international matches. Players from both Bangladesh and Ireland decided to give a Guard of Honour to Dar after the end of the match.

Mushfiqur Rahim, Taijul Islam lead Bangladesh to an impressive win

Veteran cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim was the chief architect as he came up with impressive batting performances throughout the contest. After bundling out Ireland for 224, the hosts managed to post 369 in their first innings, courtesy of Mushfiqur’s scintillating century. The right-handed batter smashed 126 from 166 deliveries, including 15 fours and a six. He was well supported by skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who smashed 94-ball 87.

In the second innings, Mushfiqur continued from where he left, scoring an unbeaten half-century (51 off 48) to help Bangladesh complete the chase of 138 runs. Notably, this victory also marked Bangladesh’s first Test win since they defeated New Zealand earlier in 2022, ending a nine-match winless streak.

Apart from Mushfiqur, spinner Taijul Islam was the major highlight for the hosts. He finished with match figures of 9/148, taking five wickets in the first innings and four in the second essay. For the Irish team, Lorcan Tucker gained attention with his knock of 108 that helped Ireland recover from a dire situation of 13/4 to score 292 in their second innings. Tucker became the second Irishman to score a Test hundred on debut and the sixth wicketkeeper overall to do so.

Bangladesh will lock horns with Ireland in a one-off Test that begins on April 4 in Dhaka. The three prominent names in the squad announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) include Shakib al Hasan, Litton Das and Tamim Iqba. Although the duo of Shakib and Litton was expected to join the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) this week, the team declaration has confirmed that they will only be joining the cash-rich league after the completion of the Test match.

Shakib and Litton are both part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise in the IPL and are set to miss at least two matches of the tournament due to national commitments. The BCB president Nazmul Hassan said that the board had already informed the franchises of the departure dates of Bangladeshi cricketers and added that their decision would remain unchanged.

“We will let them (the Bangladesh players) go to the IPL in accordance with what we informed the tournament about their availability. We haven’t changed our decision,” Nazmul Hassan told ESPN Cricinfo.

However, fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has arrived in India and is training with the Delhi Capitals (DC) team.

While Shakib and Litton featured in Bangladesh’s last Test squad against India in December 2022, there have been several changes made to the team for the upcoming Test against Ireland. The return of Tamim, Shadman Islam, Ebadot Hossain, and Shoriful Islam is noteworthy, as they missed the previous series. Tamim’s absence was due to a groin injury, while Ebadot was also out following an injury during the second Test against India.

Shadman is replacing Zakir Hasan, who is ruled out due to a left thumb injury. Zakir made a remarkable Test debut last year, scoring a century against India. Notably, Nasum Ahmed, Yasir Ali, Nurul Hasan, Anamul Haque and Rejaur Rahman Raja have been dropped from the squad.

Bangladesh squad for Ireland Test:

Shakib Al Hasan (c), Litton Das, Tamim Iqbal, Shadman Islam, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy.

In a one-sided encounter, Bangladesh defeated Ireland by a massive 77 runs in the rain-effected second T20I at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. With the victory, the hosts also took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Put into bat in the 17-overs per side contest, Bangladesh’s top order piled on the runs from the start. Litton Das was the standout performer, smashing 83 runs off just 41 deliveries, including 10 fours and 3 sixes. Rony Talukdar and Shakib Al Hasan also made significant contributions, scoring 44 and 38 runs, respectively. The home team finished their innings on a mammoth 202/3 in 17 overs.

In response, Ireland got off to a terrible start, losing opener Paul Stirling without scoring on the first ball of the innings. The middle-order batters failed to deliver, and the visitors were reduced to 125/9 in their allotted 17 overs. Curtis Campher smashed a valiant fifty, but it was not enough to prevent the inevitable.

Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan was the pick of the bowlers, taking five wickets for just 22 runs in his quota of four overs. Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud also chipped in with three and one wickets each.

“Feels good to be on top as a Bangladeshi. We wanted to put up the same performance we did in the past few games, and we did it well. If we want to be a great side, we have to go out there and express ourselves from ball one. That’s what we discussed and agreed that’s how we’re going to play,” said Shakib after the match.

In the first T20I of the Ireland tour of Bangladesh 2023, the home team defeated the touring side by 22 runs (DLS method) at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday, March 27.

Ireland won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Bangladesh started strongly with opener Litton Das scoring 47 runs off 23 deliveries, including 4 fours and 3 sixes. Rony Talukdar was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 67 runs off 38 deliveries, which included 7 fours and 3 sixes. Bangladesh finished their innings at 207/5 in 19.2 overs before rain stopped play for a moment.

Ireland’s chase got off to a poor start with opener Paul Stirling getting dismissed for 17 runs off 8 deliveries. Harry Tector scored 19 runs off 12 deliveries, but no other Irish batsman could make a significant contribution. Chasing a revised target of 104 in 8 overs, Ireland could just manage 81/5, falling short by 22 runs.

Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed was the standout performer with the ball, taking 4 wickets for just 16 runs in his 2 overs. Hasan Mahmud also chipped in with 1 wicket, while the other bowlers were economical.

Talukdar was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for his excellent batting performance.

With this victory, Bangladesh take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. The next match will be played on March 29 at the same venue.

betvisa888 casinoIreland tour of Bangladesh 2023 – Cricket Times - betvisa888 bet http://betvisa69.com/2023/02/ireland-squad-for-bangladesh-and-sri-lanka-tours-announced/ Fri, 10 Feb 2023 15:36:54 +0000 http://betvisa69.com/?p=69412

Ireland will visit Bangladesh next month for two Tests, three ODIs and as many T20Is. But the star Irish opening batter Paul Stirling and premier fast bowler Josh Little will not be part of the longest format games.

Stirling will focus on white-ball cricket this year as Ireland looks to secure World Cup qualification. Meanwhile, Little will only play the ODI matches against Bangladesh and will miss the rest of the tour. The left-arm seamer and Stirling will also not feature in the Sri Lanka Test game starting from April 18. Notably, it would be after four years that Ireland will appear in Tests when they face Bangladesh in Dhaka from April 4.

Ireland coach Heinrich Malan spoke about the exclusion of Stirling from the longest format and cited workload management as the reason behind resting the latter.

“There’s a lot of cricket in that space but he’s also got a fair few commitments around the T20 leagues, and for us it’s working back from us pinnacle events as a Cricket Ireland men’s side,” Malan was reported saying to BBC.

“One of those pinnacle events is playing Bangladesh at home and trying to qualify outright for the World Cup, so it’s just trying to find an opportunity for him to be at home for a little period of time,” he added.

Malan also shed light on Little’s omission and said he had the same sort of conversation with the Indian Premier League-contracted pacer.

“Going to the IPL is a life-changing opportunity and it creates opportunity for us to keep broadening our squad and our environment,” said Malan.

“For us it’s getting to the start of May when we play Bangladesh in the World Cup Super League qualification, and trying to have a full squad to pick from when people are fit and ready to play cricket.”If we can have the six weeks in the sub-continent, we can expose a couple of young players to have some opportunity and experience,” he concluded.
