Cricket is a sport where you need skills more than youth to your side, and that has been proven time and again. With England great George Gunn playing his last Test match at the age of 50, it is possible to say ‘age is just a numberâ€?

This has been proven again in the ongoing County Championship 2021 in England. 45-year-old Darren Stevens made headlines with his score of 190 runs in 145 deliveries for Kent. The first-class veteran did not just stop there and went on to dismiss Australian star Marnus Labuschagne leg before wicket with a peach of a delivery.

The world number 3 Test batsman has been dismissed twice by the English ?veteran in the ongoing championship.

Meanwhile, in his blistering ?innings of 190 runs, Stevens hit 15 fours and 15 massive sixes, t??aking his team from 128/ 8 to 307.

The Leicester-born was involved in a 166-run partnership for the ninth wicket with Miguel Cummins.

Cummins managed to score just one run in their stand for the 9th wicket – a record highest partnership in first-class cricket where one batsman scored more than 90 percent of the runs.

Stevens made his first-class debut?? in 1997 and has been playing since then. He has amassed over 15,000 runs in the 314 matches and picked up 564 wickets as well.

Stevens’ contract with Kent was uncertain in 2019. His career-best knock of 237 runs off 225 deliveries made the management rethink their decision, and eventually, the all-rounder was handed a year extension for the team.

The star player was named as one of the Wisden Cricketers ????of the Year in the 2021 edition.

Meanwhile, Labuschagne is not travelling with the Australian squad for the upcoming West Indies tour since he is playing county cricket? and, due to travel restrictions, could not join the team.

New Zealand’s Trent Boult entertained the Wellington crowd during his stay at the crease as he scored a quickfire 38 off 24 deliveries against India in the ongoing first Test at Basin Reserve on Sunday.

The left-arm seamer’s unorthodox cameo helped the Black Caps post 348 in their first innings.

England fast bowler Steven Finn took to Twitter and compared Boult’s batting display with that of AB de Villiers. “Trent Boult moving around the crease and batting like AB DeVilliers here,” Finn tweeted.

Boult hit?? five fours and 1 six during his 24-ball 38.

He swiveled around the cre??ase like ??De Villiers and ended up with a strike rate of 158.33.

Later on, he also dismissed Prithvi Shaw, Chetesh??war Pujara and Virat Kohli and finished the day with 3/27.

Now??, New?? Zealand are in the driving seat with the wicket assisting both fast bowlers and spinners.

While the Indian skipper Virat Kohli yet again fell cheaply on 19, Ajinkya Rahane (25 not out) and Hanuma Vihari (15 no?t out) have looked solid so far, having stitched a 31-run stand for the f??ifth wicket.

Day 4 would be crucial for both sides as?? the tourists still trail by 39 runs.

England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings, who is a part of team Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, recently revealed his all-time playing eleven to the Youtube channel of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

To start with, Billings has picked Robert Key, who played 15 Tests, five ODIs? and a solitary T20I for the Three Lions. Key has scored over 28,000 runs, combining a??ll three forms of the game. Next, Billings went for former England skipper Alastair Cook, who retired from international cricket last year. With 38 centuries, Cook had been one of the most successful English batsmen, especially in Test cricket.

Thereafter, Billings went for Australia’s batting legend Ricky Ponting, the two-time World Cup winning captain. With 71 hundreds and 144 fifties, Ponting is one of the greatest batsmen the game has ever produced.

Billings also picked Indian talisman Virat Kohli, who has been creating new bat??ting records for the last decade or so. At the age of 30, the Indian captain has 66 international centuries and is speculated to break?? a number of records in the near future.

AB de Villiers comes in at No. 5 in Billings’ side. The South African star batsman said “Good Bye” to international cricket last year but plays for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL.

Billings then picked Ben Stokes as the lone all-rounder in his team. He went for his IPL teammate MS Dhoni as the captain of his playing eleven. Dhoni has glory in all the three ICC trophies to his name and also guided India to the helm of the r??ankings in Test cricket.

The next pick for Billings’ was Darren Stevens, who didn’t get a chance to play for England but plied his trade expertly for Kent and Leicestershire in the English domestic circuit.

Among bowlers, the 27-year-old picked Kagiso Rabada and Mitchell Starc as his two seamers. Both of them have been frontline speedsters of South Afr?ica and Australian bowling unit respectively.

Muttiah Muralitharan, the Sri Lankan legend, is the lone spinner in Billings’ side.

Sam Billings’ all-time XI:

Robert Key, Alastair Cook, Ricky Ponting, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Ben Stokes, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Darren Stevens, Kagiso Rabada, Mitchell Starc, Muttiah Muralitharan.
