Nathan Coulter-Nile registered the best figures of his BBL career on Friday, taking four wickets to help Melbourne Stars beat Brisbane Heat by six wickets at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Coulter-Nile (4/10) helped Stars in dismantling Heat for just 125 runs in 19.5 overs. Chasing the paltry total, captain Glenn Maxwell (46 off 26) and Hilton Cartwright (46 not out off 42) starred with the bat and took their tea?m over the finish line with 17 ball??s to spare.

Well, things weren’t as easy as it looked. Debutants Xavier Bartlett (1/28) and Jack Wood (2/28) had last season’s finalists slumping to 3/34 after 6.1 overs. But then Maxwell and Cartwright steadied their ship, and they also claimed the bonus-point for leading the game till the 10-over mark.

The 10th season of the Big Bash League (BBL) began on Thursday (December 10) with a match between hosts Hobart Hurricanes and defending champions Sydney Sixers. Put in to bat first, Hurricanes managed?? ?to post 178/8 on the board in their 20 overs.

During the first innings, one thing that got the attention of fans was not a massive six but an extraordinary fielding from Jordan Silk.

It all happened on the last delivery of the 15th over when Hurricanes star batsman Colin Ingram pulled a short-pitch delivery from Sixers left-arm spinner Steve O’Keefe which once seemed to be a six.

Silk, who was fielding at deep mid-wicket, timed his jump to perfection to emulate Nicholas Pooran’s jaw-dropping effort during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

Here’s the video:

Chasing 179, Sixers looked in cruise control with James Vince at his vintage best smashing 67 off just 41 balls in a 116-run stand with Jack Edwards as they claimed the ‘power boost point’ for the highest score at the 10-over mark. But it was the only point they got from the match.

James Faulkner and Riley Meredith used guile and extreme pace to restrict the Sixers on 162/6, thereby, guiding Hurricanes to a 16-run victory.

Hobart Hurricanes bowled b?rilliantly in the second half of Sydney Sixers innings to seal a win in the opening match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2020-21.

The hosts’ Hurricanes batted first and half-centuries from Tim David (58 off 33) and Colin Ingram (55 off 42) guided them to a score of 178/8 in their 20 overs.

In reply, the Sixers glided to 118/1 before hitting quicksand. After James Vince’s dismissal, the wheels fell off in spectacular fashion. Vince was out for a 41-ball 67 in the 14th over.

In total, Hurricanes picked 5/44 in 6.3 overs to ??snatch victory from the jaws of de?feat.

James Faulkner (2/22), Riley Meredith (2/29), Nathan Ellis (1/37) and Scott Boland (1/39) all bowled well to tak??e Hurricanes home.

Australian speedster Mitchell Starc has withdrawn his n??ame from the remaining T20I series against India and has left the bio-bubble on compassionate grounds due to a family illness.

Cricket Australia (CA) on Sunday morning confirmed that Starc would miss the two T20Is scheduled to be played in Sydney – the first on Sunday evening and the second on Tuesday (December 8).

โ€œThere is nothing in the world more important than family and in this case Mitch is no exception,โ€?/em> coach Justin Langer said.

โ€œW?e will give Mitch all the time he needs and welcome him back into the squad with open a??rms whenever he feels the time is right for him and his family.โ€?/em>

Starc, earlier, missed the third and last ODI in Canber??ra on Wednesday due to rib injury but returned to play in the T20I series opener on Friday.

CA have already released fast-bowling all-rounder Cameron Green from the T20I squad to play in the warmup game against India A, while Marcus Stoinis is injured and Pat Cummins has been rested.

Former Australia cricketer and a T20 legend Shane Watson has reacted on Big Bash League (BBL) new rules introduced by Cricket Australia (CA)?? for the 10th season which is all set to begin from December 10.

Watson did not look impressed with the fresh rules as he termed them as “gimmicks” and “science experiments”. The Ipswich-born opined that ‘Power Surge’, the ‘X-Factor Player’ and the ‘Bash Boost’ were unnecessary changes that made the game way too complex.

As per ‘Power Surge’, the 6-over power play has been trimmed to 4 overs. Now, the batting team can propose another?? 2 overs of fielding restrictions from the 11th over onwards.

CA has also rearranged the BBL’s points system. In this rule, if the chasing team are ahead of their opponents’ equivalent 10-over score, they will be given an extra point. And if that doesn’t happen, then the fielding team will get the bonus point.

Similarly, the ‘X-Factor Player’ suggests that the 12th or 13th player in the team sheet can come into the game after the 10th over of the first innings. And he can replace any player who is yet to bat or has?? b??owled not more than one over.

Watson mentioned all this in a blog post on his T20 stars website where he wrote: “I read today that the BBL is introducing these new gimmicks, such as the ‘Power Surge’, the ‘X-Factor Player’ and the ‘Bash Boost’ in a misguided attempt to reinvigorate the tournament.”

“I just can’t seem to get my head around why there are people out there who are trying to reinvent the wheel when the wheel was not broken. The complexities that these new ‘science experiments’ are going to create for the viewers, let alone the players and coaches, when none of these have been tried and tested at lower levels, have really taken the wind out of my sails,” he added.

Focus should be on producing talent not changing rules: Watson

Watson, who recently announced retirement from all for??ms ??of the game after finishing his stint for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, reckoned that there should be a focus on getting the best talent, not in changing the rules.

“The decision to allow three overseas players to play in every team to really strengthen up the quality of the cricket during the tournament and seeing the list of world-class overseas players who are heading to our shores had been unbelievably exciting,” the 39-year-old remarked.

The former Queensland cricketer also gave an example of IPL, stating why it is the best T20 league in the world.

“In my mind, this is the sole reason why the IPL is the best T20 tournament in the world because all of the best cricketers in the world being available to play interwoven with so many Indian stars and the young Indian superstars of the future. As we saw during the IPL that has just finished, the teams were so evenly matched, which meant that you never knew who was going to win the match as well as the standard of cricket being so high.”

“The simple game plan in my mind is to get the world’s best cricketers playing on world-class pitches and guess what, you will get world-class cricket to watch for the cricket lovers out there, and we will all be on the edge of our seats admiring the feats of these amazing cricketers,” Watson wrote further.

betvisa liveBBL|10 – Cricket Times - betvisa casino //betvisa69.com/2020/11/cricket-australia-introduces-new-rules-for-the-upcoming-edition-of-big-bash-league/ Mon, 16 Nov 2020 11:47:54 +0000 //betvisa69.com/?p=50334

The introduction of ‘power surge’ is among the three new rules introduced by Cricket Australia for the upcoming 10th edition of Big Bash League (BBL), starting from December 10.

Thi??s rule will enable the batting team to take a two-over power play at any stage in the second half of an innings where only two players will be allowed to field?? outside the inner-ring.

In order to accommodate this law, the power play in the start of each innin??gs will be trimmed from six to four overs.

The other rule change includes ‘X-factor player,’ i.e. the 12th or 13th player in the team sheet can come into the game after the 10th over of the first innings and replace any player who is yet to bat or has bowled no more than one over.

The third and the last rule change involves a ‘bonus competition point’ and is termed as ‘bash boost’. According to it, there will now be four points available for winning a match – instead of the previous two – with three points available for the victory and the extra point being given to the team who is ahead on the comparison at the 10-over mark of the chase. If the scores of both sides are equal at ten overs than the point is split into two – 0.5 to each team.

Speaking on the development, Alistair Dobson, the Head of BBL, said: “The introduction of these new innovations is yet another reason why the KFC BBL 10 season is set up to be the most exciting in the League’s history.

“The Power Surge, X-Factor and Bash Boost prioritise scoring, exciting cricket, introduce new strategic angles and ensure there’s always something to play for throughout the entire match.

“We’re confident our fans will love what these innovations bring to the game as many of the world’s top T20 players, plus our next generation of Australian stars, bring them to life on the field.”

West Indian swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran has been roped in by the Melbourne Stars for the upcoming season of Big Bash League (BBL) scheduled to start from December 10.

Pooran, who ??is curr??ently on the tour of New Zealand with the West Indies squad, can only travel to Australia after fulfilling his international commitments; this means he will have to miss the first few games of BBL|10.

Well, Pooran won’t need to undergo the mandatory quarantine period as the Trans-Tasman travel bubble was recently established between the two countries.

“The Melbourne Stars have a very strong team and I’m happy I can be part of that for a few matches this season,” Pooran said in a press release.

“I’m also excited to be part of the BBL and heard many good things from Glenn Maxwell. I will keep playing my natural game for the team and hope it helps get the Stars some positive results,” he added.

Meanwhile, Melbourne Stars head coach David Hussey said, “Nick is an impressive player with some big gears who has been in demand in the IPL, the Caribbean Premier League and Pakistan Super League in addition to his West Indies duties for some time. I’m looking forward to having his talents on our side this season.”

Pooran has just ended his IPL campaign with Kings XI Punjab in the UAE, where was accompanied by his wife Kathrina Miguel. The? southpaw scored 353 ru?ns in 14 matches, averaging 35.30 with a stellar strike rate of 169.71.
