The 19th match of IPL 2025 saw Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) fall to their fourth consecutive defeat, this time at the hands of the Gujarat Titans (GT), in what turned out to be a one-sided ??affair under the lights at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Batting first on a sluggish surface, SRH managed just 152/8 in their 20 overs. In reply, GT made light work of the target, chasing it down in only 16.4 overs with seven wickets in hand, thanks to a clinical bowling display and composed batting. The star of the evening was Mohammed Siraj, who ripped through SRH’s top order with figures of 4/17 and was deservedly named Player?? of the?? Match.

Daniel Vettori sites 3 main reasons for SRH lost against GT in IPL 2025

Following the defeat, SRH head coach Daniel Vettori offered an honest appraisal of his team’s shortcomings. While reiterating faith in his top-order’s aggressive intent, he outlined three specific areas that led to the team’s loss against GT.

1) Disrespecting the conditions

Vettori was candid in ad??mitting that SRH’s batters failed to respect the playing conditions. The Hyderabad pitch on April 6 wasn’t the flat belter the home side is u??sually treated to. Instead, it offered variable bounce and a slower pace, making stroke play more challenging. SRH’s batters, however, went in with an aggressive mindset and did not adapt quickly enough.

em>I think we know the style is going to work, but we have to respect conditions, we haven’t assessed well, and that’s probably something we haven’t done, said Vettori in the post-match press conference. In attempting to go hard from the outset, SRH lost early wickets and failed to stitch together meaningful partnerships. Their inabil??ity to build a foundation meant that they fell at least 20 runs short of a par score a gap that proved costly in the final analysis.

2) Underestimating the opposition’s planning

According to Vettori, GT’s bowlers were not just executing their plans well they ??were outsmarting SRH’s much-hyped top three. The Titansbowling unit, led by Siraj, clearly came in with homework done, targeting weaknesses and denying the batters the pace and angles they thrive on. The ??result? SRH’s big names crumbled under pressure.

em>Other teams are putting a lot of planning into our top three, and they haven’t been able to execute it at times,Vettori added. The consistent fai??lure of the top order to convert starts into match-winning scores is now a growing concern for SRH, especially as it places undu?e pressure on the middle and lower order to rescue innings.

3) Collective failure across all three disciplines

While the batting was undoubtedly underwhelming, Vettori emphasized that the defeat wasn’t solely the batters’ burden to bear. Fielding and bowling also failed to live up to the standards expected at the highest level. GT’s chase was rarely threatened, with SRH’s bowlers unable to apply sustained pressure or exploit any slowness in the pitch that GT’s bowlers had utilized to perfection.

em>We just haven’t been near our best in the last four games, that’s all three disciplines. The barometer of most teams is how their fielding’s going, and we’ve been pretty poor in the field,Vettori admitted.

SRH’s fielding lapses and lack of energy in the field only added to their woes, with easy singles converted into doubles ?and half-chances going begging crucial details that can define tight matches, especially in a tournament as competitive as the IPL.

SRH’s IPL 2025 season at the crossroads

Despite the string of losses, Vettori and skipper Pat Cummins are refusing to panic. However, the margin for error is s?hrinking with each passing game. SRH will now turn their attention to their clash against Punjab Kings on April 12, aware that a?? turnaround must come sooner rather than later.

em>There’s still some confidence within the batting group, but it’s the collective that needs to stand up now,Vettori concluded.

If SRH are to revive their season and live up to the expectations set after last year’s runner-up finish, they’ll need more than individual brilliance â€?they’ll need cohesion, adaptability, and belief.

betvisa888 liveDaniel Vettori – Cricket Times - betvisa888 casino //betvisa69.com/2024/11/aus-vs-ind-daniel-vettori-leaves-australia-coaching-prioritizes-ipl-2025-auction-over-perth-test/ Mon, 18 Nov 2024 10:41:52 +0000 //betvisa69.com/?p=163773

Australia’s bowling coach Daniel Vettori will step away from his duties during the first Test against India in Perth to attend the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Vettori, who is the head coach of S??unrisers Hyderabad (SRH), will be present at the high-profile auction scheduled for November 24-25.

The first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is set to begin on November 22 at Perth’s Optus Stadium, presenting a scheduling conflict for several IPL-affiliated individuals, including Vettori, Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer, who are in ?Perth for coaching or commentary roles.

Daniell Vettori balances dual roles

Since his appointment in 2022, Vettori has been an integral part of Australia’s coaching staff across formats, working closely with head coach Andrew McDonald. Cricket Australia (CA) values his expertise highly, allowing him to balance his national coaching responsibilities with franchise commitments. However, this will mark the first instance where Vett??ori will leave midway through a Test match to attend the IPL auction.

In recent years, Vettori has missed certain series due to franchise obligations, with replacement coaches stepping in during his absence. CA is currently ??advertising for a?? full-time national pace bowling coach, likely as a contingency for situations like this.

The decision to prioritize the IPL auct?ion over a marquee Test match highlights the ??growing influence of franchise cricket and its logistical challenges on the international calendar.

Despite his impending departure, Vettori has been actively involved in Australia’s preparations for the Perth Test. On Monday, he worked closely with the bowling unit at the WACA ground, simulating left-arm orthodox deliveries to help batters prepare for India’s spin ace Ravindra Jadeja.

Australia have also roped in two consultants for the pre-Test training: ex-Australia batter Michael Hussey and former all-rounder Jim Allenby. Both have p?reviously worked with the national team and will assist in the build-up to the match.

Context of the IPL 2025 Auction

The IPL 2025 auction, slated to take place in Saudi Arabia for the first time, is a two-day affair attracting global attention. The timing, however, clashes with one of cricket’s most iconic rivalries, raising questions about the prioritization of franchise commitments over international duties.

Vettori’s move underscores a larger trend where franchise cricket increasingly influences the schedules and roles of international players and coaches.

As Vettori heads to Jeddah, Australia will rely on its remaining coaching staff and consultants to maintain focus against a formidable Ind??ian side.

The Perth Test is the first of five matc??hes in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with subsequent games in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney as part of the Australian summer of cricket.

South African pacer Dale Steyn, New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori, and Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Deep Dasgupta on Friday featured in an interview session with EspnCric?info.

During the show, every panelist was given an impromptu topic to opine about in an allotted time of one minute. The fellow participants had to ‘mute’ the speaker if the latter extended the consigned time.

Former New Zealand captain Vettori was asked to expound whether “communication between the coach and the captain be allowed with a device.”

Whimsically asking his peers to ‘mute’ him whenever they felt right, Vettori joked that his topic was only worth thirty seconds.

Vettori argue??d in favour of the device since it helped an inexperienced captain to take invaluable advice from his coach at crucial moments.

“And I look at it from two avenues. Firstly, an inexperienced captain and a coach being able to get together and actually communicate on tactics so that the product on the field is actually the best there can be. Because more often than not we sit on the sideline and go ‘That’s not right. They should be doing this’ and why shouldn’t there be an extra avenue for that coach and captain to get together, particularly in crucial situations,” Vettori said.

But the veteran spinner was quick to add that if such a device was allowed, then the viewers should be able to sneak in the conversation to verify if the coach’s counsel worked.

“I think if the coach and captain actually takes up that opportunity then the viewers or the public should be off to hear those conversations. So, youâ€?when you do decide to use it then you’reâ€?you’re sort of put under pressure to actually explain yourselves. So it’s not just hidden away. You’re not just having a quiet conversation as a captain. When you take up that opportunityâ€?you ear it out to the masses and so they can understand what your thinking isâ€?how you’re trying to actually perform in that situation and whether it actually has any benefits. So, asâ€?as viewers we sit back and say that’s wrong or that’s right but we don’t know what the thinking is around it. Now.. Now we do. Thank you, though,” concluded Vettori.

Agreeing with Vettori, former speedster Steyn, too, encouraged such a mode of communication, revealing that there are minuscule?? pieces of information that the captain an??d bowler sometimes forget to implement.

“But actually, Iâ€?I totally agree. I did think for a second that we’ve got strategic time-out where coaches come on and are able to kind of communicate andâ€?and have a word and everything like that. But at the same time in the middle of an over, if the coach is sitting thereâ€?I have been in the dug-out. We’ve have seen coaches sitting there, screaming their heads, ‘Why is this not happening? Why is this not happening?’ and bowlers and captains tend to forget these little moments sometimes,” explained Steyn.

The South African went on to add that devices that help in communicating are legitimate if the?y support a side win the game.

“So if there is an opportunity for a message to somehow get out thereâ€?coz you can’t send the 12th man out there in the middle of an over. Iâ€?Iâ€?I’m for it. I think it’s great, if it’s gonna have the advantage of winning the game then absolutely, why not!,” remarked Steyn.

Recently, KKR analyst Nathan Leamon had held a ‘cryptic messageduring a match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2021, sparking a debate among the crick?eting fraternity on the legitimacy ?of such conversations.

Over 2500 One-Day International (ODI) m?atches were played in the last decade, and that gave the platform to various bowlers to exhibit their adroitness.

Be it spinners or pacers, bowlers belonging to different teams ruled the previous decennium and claimed the majority of ODI wickets. Their performance was well noticed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as well. However, there were very few who grabbed the maximum ICC ODI ratings in each year of the past decade.

New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori started the proceedings in 2010 when he earned the highest ODI rankings of that year. The left-arm spinner claimed 727 ratings.

The nex?t ?three years belonged to Pakistan as Saeed Ajmal, and Mohammad Hafeez grabbed the maximum ODI ratings in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Ajmal claimed 735 points in 2011, while Hafeez c?aught 764 ratings. Ajmal repeated history in 2013 as well. He reached 776 ODI ratings.

West Indies’ mystery spinner Sunil Narine led the 2014 and 2015 ICC ODI rankings after grabbing the highest ratings in those consecutive years. Narine claimed 753 points in 2014 and 734 in 2015.

Apart from Narine, India’s young-gun Jasprit Bumrah is the only bowler to e??arn maximum ratings for consecutive? years. Bumrah showcased his magic in the year 2018 and 2019. The right-armer claimed 841 ratings in 2018 and 785 in the last year.

Here’s a list of bowlers with the maximum ratings in the last decade:

  • 2010 â€?Daniel Vettori (727)
  • 2011 â€?Saeed Ajmal (735)
  • 2012 â€?Mohammad Hafeez (764)
  • 2013 â€?Saeed Ajmal (776)
  • 2014 â€?Sunil Narine (753)
  • 2015 â€?Sunil Narine (734)
  • 2016 â€?Trent Boult (718)
  • 2017 â€?Hasan Ali (759)
  • 2018 â€?Jasprit Bumrah (841)
  • 2019 â€?Jasprit Bumrah (785)

On No??vember 29, 2017, the BCCI had unofficially retired jersey no. 10 as a mark of respect to Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s achievements.

Back then in September, fans were furious to see seamer Shardul Thakur sporting the iconic number on his jersey. After that incident in Sri Lanka, the pacer was? seen wearing the number 54 on his back in a few warm-up matches.

Now, almost two years later, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) retired spin legend Daniel Vettori’s jersey no. 11 in honour of the former Kiwi capt??ain.

In fact, NZC will ??retire the jerseys of all the cricketers who have represented New Zealand in more than 200 ODIs.

“Players that repres??ent New Zealand in 200 ODIs have their shirt number retired. Daniel Vettori who wore number 11 has play??ed the most ODIs for the BLACKCAPS with 291,/em> NZC tweeted on Monday.

Vettori had scalped 305 wickets while playing for New Zealand in 291 ODIs. He ?was also impressive with the willow, scoring 2253 runs, including four fifties.

The former 40-year-old left-arm spin wizard had represented New Zealand in 113 ??Tests. He took 362 wickets and amassed 4,531 runs with the bat, including six centuries and 23 half-centuries.

Vettori was the Black C??aps skipper from 2007 to 2011.

Meanwhile, on Monda?y, New Zealand also revealed the Test jersey numbers of their players before the two-match series? against Sri Lanka, beginning on August 14 at Galle.

New? Zealand will kickstart their campaign in the ICC World Test? Championship with the two-match Test series against the Island nation.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have sacked a major portion of their support staff, including head coach Daniel Vettori, bowling coach Andrew McDonald (former Australian Test cricketer), and batting and fielding coach, Australia’s Trent Woodhill, as per a report in Bangalore Mirror. This was an outcome of RCB’s poor performance in the last two seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Ashish Nehra, who had joined?? the franchise last season as bowling mentor, has been retained, while Virat Kohli continues to remain as the team skipper.

Vettori is likel?y to be replaced by Gary Kirsten, who was with RCB as batting consultant in IPL 2018. If the reports are to be believed, Virat Kohli is expected to have his say in selecting the new support staff.

Vettori did not respond when asked about his sacking as the head coach while Kirsten wasn’t available for the comment as he was in forests of Zambia on a holiday.

On the other hand, Sanjeev Churiwala, CFO of Diageo India (which owns RCB) will replace Amrit Thomas as RCB chairman. Thomas wi?ll be moving to Europe to serve in a new role fo??r Diageo.
