With the Indian Premier League (IPL) around the corner, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have announced the replacement of Brydon Carse who has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury in his left toe during England’s tour to India before the Champions Trophy 2025.
SRH announces Brydon Carse’s replacement
SRH have signed Wiaan Mulder as a like-for-like replacement for Carse who is set to miss the IPL season after being ruled out of the England’s squad following their first group stage game against Australia.
Mulder was recently part of the South African team who lost the semi-final of the Champions Trophy 2025 against New Zealand. Mulder has featured in 128 T20 matches, amassing 2,172 runs and claiming 67 wickets. This upcoming season marks his debut in the IPL. However, he brings considerable experience from his stints in the SA20, the now-defunct Mzansi Super League (൩MSL), and England’s Vitality Blast. Notably, Mulder was South Africa’s joint-highest wicket-taker in their Champions Trophy campaign, finishing with six wickets.

A revamped SRH squad after Mulder’s inclusion
The SRH squad has further solidified with the inclusion of Mulder in the squad. The former IPL runners-up are studded with players like Heinrich Klassen, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy up front. Skipper Pat Cummins and Mohammed Shami are leading the pace attack and Adam Zampa leading the spin attack for the franchise.
Mulder’s inclusion comes at a crucial time for the team. The highly anticipated 2025 IPL season will commence on March 22, setting the stage for another exciting tournament.
