Known for his aggressive batting style and fiery on-field demeanor, Konstas captivated fans and critics alike. His fiery confrontations with Indian players, especially a heated moment with India’s star batter Virat Kohli, was the talking point of the series.

Kostas said that having a brief chat with Kohli after the game, expressing his admiration for him and sharing that it was a great honor to play against his idol. “I had a little chat after the game telling him that I idolise him, and it is obviously a huge honour playing against him,” K﷽onstas said during the interview with CODE sports.

He further described facing Kohli as a surreal experience, noting Kohli’s commanding presence, the Indian crowd’s energy, and their chants of his name. “When I did verse him, I was like, ‘wow, Virat Kohli is batting.’ He just had that presence about him, all the Indian crowd getting amongst it. Chanting his name. It was quite surreal,” he added.

A warm and encouraging exchange 

The 19-year old also mentioned that Kohli is very down-to-earth, a lovely person, and wished him well, expressing hope that he performs well on the Sri Lanka tour. “He was very down to earth. A lovely person and just wishing me all the best saying hopefully I go well on the tour of Sri Lanka he said if I am in,” Australian opener added.

The right handed batter expressed admiration for Kohli, stating that his entire family loves him, he has idolized Kohli from a young age and considers him a legend of the game. “My whole family loves Virat. I have idolised him from a young age and he is a legend of the game,” Konstas concluded.

Impressive debut series for Konstas

Konstas’s on-field performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was impressive. Despite playing only two matches, he scored 113 runs, including a remarkable half-century in the Melbourne Test. His confident batting against a world-class Indian bowling attack showcased his potential and promise. Fans have quickly taken note, dubbing him as one to watch for the future. With his debut series now behind him, all eyes are on whether Konstas will make the squad for Australia’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, which begins on January 29.
