India Women registered an emphatic 115-run victory over West Indies Women in the second ODI of the ICC Championship, clinching the series 2-0 with one match to go. Harleen Deol’s brilliant century proved pivotal in India’s commanding win.

India’s dominant batting performance

Winn𒁃ing the toss and electing to bat, India posted a formidable total of 358/5 in their 50 overs. The foundation was laid by openers Smriti Mandhana and , who added 110 runs for the first wicket. Mandhana scored a brisk 53 off 47 balls, featuring seven fours and two sixes, while Pratika Rawal’s steady 76 off 86 balls included 10 fours and ♏a six.

The star of the innings, however, was Harleen Deol. Coming in at number three, she displayed exceptional strokeplay, amassing 115 runs off 103 balls with 16 boundari🐟es. Her partnership with Jemimah Rꦉodrigues, who contributed a quickfire 52 off 36 balls, added crucial momentum to India’s innings. Brief cameos from Harmanpreet Kaur (22) and Richa Ghosh (13) ensured India finished on a high.

The West Indies bowlers struggled to contain the Indian batters. Deandra Dottin, Afy Fletcher, Zaida James and Qiana Joseph each managed to pick up a wicket, but they were largely ineffective against India’s onslaught.

Hayley Matthews’ lone battle

Chasing a daunting target of 359, West Indies𒀰 were heavily reliant on skipper Hayley Matthews to anchor their innings. Matthews delivered a valiant kn🏅ock of 106 off 109 balls, laced with 13 fours, but found little support from her teammates.

Early wickets pegged back the visitors as Qiana Joseph (15) and Nerissa Crafton (13) were dismissed cheaply. Shemaine Campbelle chipped in with 38 runs, and Zaida James added 25, but the lack of substantial partnerships hurt the chase. A lower-orde🧜r contributi🅘on from Afy Fletcher (22) offered brief resistance, but the .

India’s bowlers were clinical in defending their total. Priya Mishra was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for 49 runs in her 9.2 overs. Titas Sadhu, Deepti Sharma and Pratika Rawal took two wickets each, while Renuka Thakur chipped in with a wicket apiece. The disciplined bowling effort ensured that West Indies never got close to the target.

Player of the Match

For her match-winning century, Harleen Deol was named Player of the Match. Her composure and ability to accelerate when needed were instrumental in India’s imposing total.

The third and final ODI is scheduled for Friday, December 27, at Reliance Stadium. With the series already in the bag, Indiaꦓ will aim for a clean sweep, while West Indies will look to salvage some pride.
