In a significant move, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially approved a substantial budget for the Champions Trophy 2025, set to be hosted in Pakistan. The decision was made by the ICC’s Financial and Commercial Committee, chaired by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah, who thoroughly scܫrutinised and segmented the financial plans for the tournament.
ICC approves a massive budget for 2025 Champions Trophy
The budget, collaboratively developed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and ratified 🔜by t🌜he ICC Finance Department of USD 70 million, amounts to INR 5,721,800,000. This funding is earmarked for the ninth edition of the Champions Trophy, scheduled to take place from 21 February to 9 March 2025.
Despite the approval, a source close to the ICC dis𝓀closed on Thursday that an additional allocation of USD 4.5 million has been deemed relatively inadequate given the overall budget. This shortfall becomes particularly apparent when considering the complexities and substantial expenses involved in organising such a major international event.
“The approximate budget is around USD 70 million, and only USD 4.5 million has been allocated as additional expenses. Given the scale of the tournament, this allocation needs careful evaluation,” a source close to the development was quoted🌃 as saying to the ♑Hindustan Times.
