West Indies cricket icon Courtney Walsh recently shared his insights on Team India’s squad selection for the upcoming T20 World Cup, particularly focusing on their bowling department. The announcement of India’s squad by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) l🌳ast m꧃onth sparked discussions, with notable inclusions and exclusions catching the attention of fans and experts alike.

Spin dominance in India’s squad

Among the notable selections, the return of Sanju Samson and the exclusion of KL Rahul garnered significant attention. However, it was the inclusion of four spinners in India’s squad that stood out. Alongside the seasoned Yuzvendra Chahal, the BCCI opted for Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, during a recent press conference, disclosed that the decision to include four spinners was a strategic move aime🌞d at exploiting the conditions expected in the Caribbean and the USA, where the T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held.

Courtney Walsh shares his analysis

Walsh, in his ass🍌essment, expressed no surprise at India’s emphasis on spin, considering it to be a potent weapon for the team. He noted similarities with the West Indies squad, which also boasts three spinners. Walsh highlighted the need for teams to adapt to the varying conditions a✱nd balance their squads accordingly.

“India picking four spinners I’m not surprised… it seems to be their strength. West Indies have picked three spinners. It’s going to be different conditions and everybody has to balance the team,” said Walsh while speaking to PTI.

Acknowledgment of India’s pace attack

While praising India’s spin contingent, Walsh also acknowledged the quality of India’s pace bowling unit, led by the formidable Jasprit Bumrah and supported by Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh. He emphasized the overall competitiveness of the tournament, noting that most teams possess a blend of quality fast bowlers and ✃spinners.

“India still have quality fast bowlers, most of the teams do, so it will be a very competitive tournament. The majority of the teams have good-quality fast bowlers and spinners,” added Walsh.
