Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star Rinku Singh was ecstatic following his team’s stunning triumph over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 final held in Chennai. The celebration saw Rinku reveling in the joyous victory, sharing moments of dance ꧅and laughter with his teammates.
Humble beginnings and steady progress
Rinku’s journey with KKR began in 2018 when he was bought for INR 80 lakh. In 2022, KKR secured his services again for INR 55 lakh. His consistent performances have not only solidified his place in the KKR lineup but also earned him a spot in the Indian national team and a position in BCCI’s annual retainership contract for 2024, worth INR 1 crore annually.
Contentment with earnings
Despite the lucrative nature of the IPL, Rinku expressed satisfaction with his earnings. In an interview, he shared his perspective on financial gains, highlighting his contentment with the INR 55 lakh he rece🅺ives each season.
“Even 50-55 lakhs is a lot. When I started, I had not even thought that I would earn so much. At that time, I was a kid and if I got even 10-5 rupees, I thought I would get it somehow. Now I am getting 55 lakh rupees, so this is a lot, I should be happy with whatever God gives me. This is my thinking. I don’t think at all that I should have got this much money or that much. I am very happy even with 55 lakh rupees. When I didn’t have this, I realized the value of money,” Rinku told Dainik Jagaran in an interview.

Rinku reveals Rohit Sharma’s message after omission from T20 World Cup squad
Notably, the cricketing community was taken aback when Rinku was left out of the 15-member India squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Despite his impressive performances💯 in IPL 2023 and subsequent matches for Indiꩵa, the selection committee chose to list him as a travelling reserve instead.
Reflecting on the disappointment of missing out on the World Cup squad, Rinku shared India captain Rohit Sharma‘s reassuring message. Rinku revealed that Rohit encouraged him to stay focused and continue his hard work, reminding him that there would be more opportunities in the future.
“Yes, anyone feels a little bad if he is not selected despite good performance. However, this time I could not get selected due to the team combination. It is okay, one should not think too much about things that are not in one’s hands. Yes, I was a little upset in the beginning. Whatever happened is fine. Whatever happens happens for good. Rohit Bhaiya did not say anything special. He only said that just keep working hard. There is a World Cup again after two years. There is no need to worry too much. This is what he said to me,” Rinku added.
