Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) hopes of clinching the Indian Premier League (IPL) title took a hit as they suffered a four-wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Eliminator match. After being asked to bat first, RCB struggled against RR’s bowling attack, only managing to set a target of 172 for 8 wickets, with none of their batters reaching the fifty-run mark.
In response, the Royals chased down the target in 19 overs, with significant contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal (45 off 30), Riyan Parag (36 off 26), and Shimron Hetmyer (26 off 14). Although star all-rounder Parag played a stabilizing role in the innings, he fell short of his half-century by 14 runs before being dismissed by Mohammed Siraj.
Mohammed Siraj sends back Riyan Parag with a stunning delivery
In the 18th over, Siraj delivered a full-length straight ball to Parag, who cleared his front leg, aiming to strike it towards long-on. However, his late timing caused the ball to sneak past the inside edge. The thunderous delivery from Siraj crashed into the stumps, bringing an end to the right-handed batter’s commendable innings. On the last ball of his over, the RCB bowler also took the wicket of Hetmyer, bringing a plot twist to the game.
