Du Plessis, showcased his jubilation after securing the crucial dismissal of PBKS’s key player, Jonny Bairstow.

It was during the sixth over of the innings, bowled by Lockie Ferguson, when Bairstow mistimed a shot, sending the ball straight into the hands of the fielder positioned at mid-off, who happened to be none other than skipper Du Plessis himself. The catch was not an easy one, requiring Du Plessis to sprint and executeꦕ a remarkable dive to grab hold of the ball, thus eliminating the dangerous English batter who had scored 27 runs.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru remain in the Playoffs race
RCB secured a commanding victory over PBKS by a margin of 60 runs. After Being asked to bat first, RCB amassed a formidable total of 241/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Virat Kohli‘s blistering 92 off just 47 balls, boasting a remarkable strike rate of 196, coupled with Rajat Patidar‘s brilliant half-century of 55 runs off 23 balls, including six massive sixes, dismantling PBKS’ bowling attack.
In response, PBKS got off to a decent start, reaching 71/2 after 6 overs. However, they lost wickets in quick succession during the middle overs. Rilee Rossouw‘s valiant fifty, scoring 61 off 27 balls, was the lone highlight for PBKS. Nevertheless, it fell short as PBKS were eventually all out for 181 runs in just 17 overs. Kohli’s outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
With this win, RCB have maintained their position in the playoffs race, accruing 10 points from 12 matches and currently occupying the 7th spot on the points table. To secure a playoff berth, they must win all their remaining matches and rely on the outcomes of other teams’ matches.
