In an exciting encounter on April 7th at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a dominant 33-run victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 21st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
Batting first, LSG posted a competitive 163/5 thanks to a brilliant 58 from Marcus Stoinis. In reply, GT’s batting faltered, managing only 130 runs. Sai Sudharshan and Rahul Tewatia were the only bright spots for GT, with scores above 30. LSG’s bowling attack shone, dismantling the GT batting line-up. Yash Thakur was the star performer, claiming a sensati🐼onal five-wicket haul for just 30 runs in his 3.5 overs.
Gujarat Titans lose two consecutive matches
The absence of the in-form David Miller in the middle overs proved costly for the GT. Still searching for a consistent batting order, GT faltered after a promising start of 54/1 in the powerplay, eventually collapsing to a meagre 130 all out. New captain Shubman Gill tried to solidify GT’s batting line-up, but LSG’s Yash wreaked havoc with the ball and picked a magnificent five-wicket haul for his team.

Shubman Gill reacts to GT’s defeat against LSG
Gujarat Titans captain Gill acknowledged a good batting wicket but lamented his team’s batting woes following the loss. Gill pinpointed the absence of the in-form Miller, highlighting his ability to turn the tide quickly. He also highlighted how despite restricting the LSG to a modest 160-odd total their batting fizzled out.
“It was a good wicket to bat on, a poor batting performance by us. We got a decent start, but we lost wickets in the middle and couldn’t recover from that. Our bowlers were exceptional as they restricted them to 160-odd, just that our batters let us down. (On missing David Miller) Miller is a kind of a player who can change a game in a couple of overs, because I think this total was very gettable for us,” said Gill.
