Here’s how Twitter reacted:
Let the adject♍ives flow for a magnificent, mature innings by Yashasvi Jaiswal. He looked solid in defence but it was the shots through the off-side (those incredible inside out sixes) that stood out. What a fine young player.

That was the second last over of the day. Why do you have to do that? Come on.
I cannot believe this. 😑
India 336/6 at Stumps on Day 1.— Ridhima Pathak (@PathakRidhima)
India s day or probably Jaiswal s day . But England have stayed at it all day and arguably won final session & have momentum tomorrow. Jaiswal was superb bats all day & 🌼strikes at aro♚und 70 . The next Indian big thing
— John Wright (@johnwright15)
Honours even I think after Day 1. England have done ☂a ☂sterling job after losing the toss, similarly Jaiswal has played superbly. First session tomorrow may be the key to unlocking the rest of the Test. Great watch.

Barring Jaiswal, the rest of the Indian batsmen should hang their head in shame for not converting their starts on this flat Day 1 track. Anything short of 500 here will be a traves🌸ty.

The day's play is over, today was Jaiswal Vs England.
336-6— Deepak singh (@Deepaks16615035)
This is good wicket to bat, but our batsmans has bad habit of throwing wickets, Jaiswal and Tailenders will bat tomorrow, Don't know how much runs we Score tomorrow🤷♂️ 😐
— VK45💔 (@sportslovervk45)
think england's done well to take 6 wkts on that … when you consider jaiswal was nearly out first ball – fine margins ! but well played young man i predicted his stardom 4 years ago
— Tony Steele (@tds122)
Except f🔜or Yashasvi Jaiswal, no one wanted to spend time at the crease. Need Ashwin and Jaiswal to stitch 100 runs partnership now and then somehow hope Kuldeep, Bumrah and Mu🦋kesh contribute enough for the total to go past 500.

End of a pretty dominating day for India.
They are comfortably in driver's seat. Pom's passengers. Innings defeat loading

🐓What a poor batting again by Indian batters. Giving away wickets easily is a habit now. At least 2 extra♒ wickets down on a good pitch. Poor Play by young guns!!!

I have actuall🍨y been pretty impressed with Shoaib Bashir this game. For a guy who has played a handful of FC matches and averages in 60s, he has been consistent with his lengths and has varied his pace nice💮ly. Interesting to see how he bowls when it actually spins
