England asserted their dominance over India on Day 2 of the fourth Test at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. After being bundled out for 353 runs in the first innings, the visitors showcased a commendable display of strength in their bowling performance. Their bowlers came together cohesively to maintain control over the match and keep the Indian batters under constant pressure. This resilient effort enabled England to maintain their supremacy over the hosts throughout the day’s play.
Shoaib Bashir shines for England
Shoaib Bashir stood out as the standout performer for the English team, tipping the scales in their favor with his four pivotal wickets. While Yashasvi Jaiswal displayed resilience with a determined half-century, Bashir wreaked havoc on the Indian batting lineup by dismissing Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar and Ravindra Jadeja. Later, he also removed Yashasvi to maintain England’s control over the match.
A light-hearted moment on the field
While Bashir impressed one and all with his bowling skills, the right-arm spinner was also involved in a rather funny incident when he was batting during England’s first innings. The incident took place when Sarfaraz Khan tried to sledge the English spinner.
Notably, the British youngster threw his wicket away while trying to play a glory shot against Jadeja and ending up giving a catch to Rajat Patidar for a duck. However, his short time at the batting crease still managed to create an enjoyable moment for cricket enthusiasts, all courtesy of the stump🌼 microphone.

Sarfaraz was overheard telling Jadeja that Bashir lacked proficiency in Hindi, but to everyone’s surprise, the Englishman promptly responded affirming his knowledge of the language, much to Jadeja’s amusement.
Sarfaraz – Isko to Hindi nahi aati hain (he doesn’t know Hindi).
Bashir – Thodi thodi aati hain Hindi (I know a bit of Hindi).
