The encounter gripped fans with its suspenseful twists and turns, culminating in a spectacular victory for the Vipers, propelled by the heroics of fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, albeit with the bat.
A nail-biting encounter unfolds
After restricting MI Emirates to a modest 149/9 in their allotted 20 overs, Desert Vipers appeared poised for a straightforward chase. However, th🦹ings went south for the Colin Munro-led side as they struggled badly in the chase.
The Vipers were behind the eight ball as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. However, Sherfane Rutherford kept them in the hunt with a crucial knock after Vipers were down and out with 100/7 in in 15 overs. Rutherford played a crucial innings of 22-ball 35 runs as the contest went down to the wire with 10 needed off the last over bowled by Trent Boult.

Shaheen Afridi seals the victory in style
As th☂e tension mounted, the equation narrowed to 3 runs needed off the final ball with Afridi at the crease. Anticipating a full delivery, Afridi preemptively created space, swung forc♈efully, and managed to nick a thick outside edge that swiftly darted towards the right of square third man.
The sweeper fielder had to cover a considerable distance, which worked in favor of both Afridi and Luke Wood. Adding to MI Emirates’ woes, the throw was directed to the wrong end. Nonetheless, Afridi seized the opportunity, completing three runs and propelling Vipers to a memorable victory. After a match-winning dive at the bowler’s end, Afridi dropped to his knees, tossed his bat in the air, removed his helmet, and savored the taste of victory in a jubilant celebration.
