In a significant development ahead of the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) series against Bangladesh, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have announced their squad, introduci🅘ng three promising players who are yet to make their debut for the national team.
3 new faces in New Zealand’s ODI squad
The fresh faces in the squad – Josh Clarkson (all-rounder), Adi Ashok (leg-spinner) and Will O’Rourke (fast bowler) – have added an element of excitement and anticipation as New Zealand prepares to take on Bangladesh in the 50-overs format. The three players receiving their maiden call-ups have been identified for their outstanding performances in domestic cricket, and their inclusion is a testament to their talent and potential.
“Josh [Clarkson] is someone who, while still only young, has played over 150 matches for the Stags, developing his skills with bat and ball to become a consistent contributor,” Blac🦩kcaps selector Sam💧 Wells was quoted as saying in his official statement.
“Adi and Will are both still fresh to domestic cricket but have been impressive in their early efforts and stepped up well this year in the New Zealand A matches against Australia A.
“Both offer valuable skill-sets, Adi with impressive control as a young leg spinner, and Will with natural bounce and variation as a tall pace bowler,” added Wells.

Several senior players rested for Bangladesh ODIs
Wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham will captain the 13-man squad, which will be without numerous senior members from the 2023 World Cup squad. Kane Williamson, Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner and Tim Southee have been rested for the ODI series against B♈angladesh.
Meanwhile, seasoned campaigner Trent Boult made himself unavailable for the upcoming ho𒀰me 🐼games.

Tom Latham (captain), Adi Ashok (2nd and 3rd ODI꧃), Finn Allen, Tom Blundell, Mark Chapman, Josh Clarkson, Jacob Duffy, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, Henry Nicholls, Will O’Rourke, Rachin Ravindra, Ish Sodhi (1st ODI), Will Young.
The first ODI of the three-match leg will be played in D💖unedin on December 17, followed by 2nd contest in Nelson and 3rd game in Napier on December 20 and 23, respectively.
