Akram, commenting on Rohit ‘s impactful starts, emphasized the significance of Shubman Gill‘s contribution, citing the latter’s remarkable batting. Akram expressed admiration for Gill’s consistency and confidently declared him as the future of the Indian cricket team post the Kohli-Rohit era.
“The kind of start he (Rohit Sharma) provides is what we have been speaking about. He batted a strike rate of 162 and piled up 82 in 10 overs, that was the stepping stone. Look at the shots he played. The pressure certainly mounts on the opposition. And Gill played amazingly well. How good a player he is. He has been consistent and he is the future of the Indian team after Rohit and Virat. They are still at their peak, no doubt,” said Akram on A Sports.
