In a setback for the Australian cricket team, star all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh missed today’s highly anticipated ODI World Cup 2023 encounter against England. The absence of these key players has raised concerns among fans, prompting discussions about the implications for the team’s performance in the crucial match-up.
Reason why Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh are not playing today’s game
Speaking at the toss, Australia captain Pat Cummins announced the changes made in their playing XI.
“We wanted to have a bat first. So, no issues about that. We backed ourselves to take the game on, backing our natural style of play. The openers are taking it on and that epitomises that. Two changes for us. Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green come in place of Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh,” Cummins said after losing the toss.

Australia had to shuffle their lineup as Maxwell suffered a concussion following a fall from a golfing cart, while Marsh departed home on Wednesday night owing to personal matters.
While Maxwell is anticipated to make a comeback for Australia’s next league stage match, Marsh will rejoin the team later in the tournament.
