India‘s campaign in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023✅ so far has been phenomenal as the hosts emerged victors in all four games they have played in the⛦ ongoing grand ICC event.
As the Men in Blue gear up to face the dominant New Zealand at the magnificent HPCA stadium, Dharamshala, on Sunday, October 22, star batter Shubman Gill came up with a bunch of questions for Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Gill quizzed whether their side will be able to crush down the K𒉰iwi challeng🌳e in the World Cup this time.
Comical discussion between Rohit-Gill
In a behind-the-scenes video posted by the BCCI following India’s dominant seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in Pune on Thursday, Gill was captured engaging in light-hearted banter with his Indian teammates. During the candid moment, he queried Rohit about India’s failure to win against the Blackcaps in ICC events since 2003. In response, the Indian captain conveyed his confidence in the team’s current form and expressed their determination to break that longstanding losing streak.
Here is a glimpse of the discussion –
Gill: Someone asked me in the press conference that we haven’t beaten New Zealand in an ICC tournament since 2003..
Rohit: That’s true. But we are playing good cricket and that’s all we can do from our end.
Gill: So, will we definitely end the streak on Sunday?
Rohit: See we don’t play the kind of cricket where we guarantee anything. When we reach the ground, we’ll have to do what we are doing as a team. We can’t think too far ahead. Yes, we’ve not had the result in the past but… (before being interrupted by Gill with another questജion)

India’s deficient record against New Zealand in ODI World Cups
An interesting point regarding India and New Zealand’s rivalry is that both teams have crossed paths on nine occasions in the history of the ODI World Cups. Among these encounters, New Zealand emerged victorious in five matches, a significant one being the ODI World Cup 2019 semifinal. On the other hand, India secured triumph in only three of the꧃se encounters, with the♈ir most recent victory dating all the way back to 2003.
