Jasprit Bumrah announced his triumphant return to international cricket in a remarkable fashion during the first T20I of the three-match series between Ireland and India at The Village in Dublin. Bumrah struck two dismissals in the opening over of the match, leaving his fans in awe. It is worth mentioning that the Ireland tour marks Bumrah’s return to competitive cricket after an 11-month absence due to a recurring back injury.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, the Indian team’s decision proved fruitful as their newly appointed skipper Bumrah showcased sensational bowling prowess right from the start. The first over of the match turned into a masterclass by Bumrah, leaving the Irish batting lineup stunned.
Jasprit Bumrah strikes twice in the opening over and pulls off his signature celebration:
The magic began with the very second ball of the innings after Bumrah bowled a menacing length outside off delivery to Irish opener Andrew Balbirnie. The ball swung back viciously, catching the Ireland batter off guard. Balbirnie’s inside edge was all it took for the stumps to be shattered, sending him back to the pavilion without contributing a run. The wicket was followed by Bumrah’s signature celebration with arms outstretched, encapsulating the bowler’s triumphant return to the international stage.

Not content with just one wicket, Bumrah continued to weave his magic and struck yet again in the same over. He unleashed a full delivery on the fifth ball of the over to Lorcan Tucker that swung back sharply and left him with no choice but to try and ramp it over the wicketkeeper. However, the plan backfired as Tucker managed only a feeble connection, and the ball lobbed straight into the waiting gloves of Sanju Samson. Ireland’s hopes were dashed further as Tucker departed for a mere 3-ball duck.
