India’s experienced seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Friday (July 28) ignited retirement speculations after making a slight modification to his Instagram bio. The Indian cricket fans were left heartbroken to see Bhuvneshwar’s new bio and urged the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) to give the Uttar Pradesh pacer one more chance to prove his ability.
It is worth mentioning that Bhuvneshwar last donned the Indian jersey during a T20I match in New Zealand back in November of the previous year. The 33-year-old was then dropped from the national set-up for the home series against the Kiwis and Sri Lanka.
Although Bhuvneshwar represented Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in all 14 matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, he wasn’t recalled to the Indian team for the multi-format West Indies tour. Bhuvneshwar’s absence from the Caribbean white-ball series raised many questions about his cricketing future and perplexed the fans.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s new Instagram bio:
After being snubbed by the Indian management, Bhuvneshwar has now updated his bio and removed the word ‘cricketer’ from ‘Indian cricketer’, igniting his retirement speculations. Fans were quick to notice the omission of the word ‘cricketer’ from the pacer’s bio, which now simply reads ‘Indian,’ This subtle change has sparked a wave of discussions, with cricket enthusiasts pondering whether the ‘king of swing’ has decided to hang up his boots.
Speaking of Bhuvneshwar’s India career, the former SRH skipper has played 21 Tests, 121 ODIs and 87 T20Is for the Men in Blue so far. He is also India’s second-highest wicket-taker in the shortest format.
