Punjab Kings (PBKS) took on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 8 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) in Guwahati. PBKS went on to post a massive total of 197/4 courtesy of skipper Shikhar Dhawan and young opener Prabhsimran Singh‘s tremendous batting before defending the total and winning the match by 5 runs.
During the course of PBKS innings, an unfortunate incident took place where Bhanuka Rajapaksa got himself injured badly after getting hit on his arm by a powerful shot from Dhawan. The PBKS skipper hit a powerful heave that struck Rajapaksha, who was positioned at the non-striker’s end.
The impact of the ball was so strong that it caused Rajapaksa significant pain, and he had to receive medical attention on the field. The physio was called out to assess Rajapaksa’s injury, and he was seen getting his arm strapped up. The batter couldn’t continue from thereon and had to retire hurt from the game.
After the match, the Sri Lankan batter🧸 provided an update regarding the status of his injury. He underwent an X-ray scan, and the results appear to be positive. Rajapaksa took to Twitter to reveal that there were no broken bone🔯s or fractures. The batter expressed gratitude towards their supporters and congratulated the team on the victory, stating that while they needed plenty of ice, they were doing well.
So happy for the win ! Thank you all for checking up on me. The X-rays have cleared me of any broken bones/fractures! 🙏Plenty of ice needed but I'm doing fine! ❤️

Speaking about the PBKS innings, opener Prabhsimran and skipper Dhawan dominated the Royals’ bowlers, resulting in PBKS posting a massive total. Prabhsimran was especially ruthless during the first 10 overs, hitting seven fours and three sixes to bring up his IPL half-century in just 28 balls. He and Dhawan shared a 90-run opening partnership off just 61 deliveries.
Dhawan anchored the innings really well. He started off slower, scoring 30 runs off 30 balls when Prabhsimran was in full flow. However, he quickly shifted gears after Prabhsimran’s dismissal and scored a blazing 56 runs off the next 26 balls he faced, finishing unbeaten on 86.
