On Day 2 of the Mumbai vs Assam domestic game, Prithvi shaw smashed the second-highest individual score in the history of the Ranji Trophy. The Mumbaikar smashed his m♔aiden triple hundred and scored 379 off just 382 balls.

Shaw surpassed the former Mumbai cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, who had scored 37ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ7 r⛎uns back in 1991 against Hyderabad.

However, Shaw couldn’t exceed Bhanusaheb Nimbalkar, who still holds the record for the highest individua💧l score by an Indian batter at the domestic level. Nimbalkar scored an unbeaten 443 for Maharashtra against Kathiawar in 1948.

Shaw had ended Day 1 of the game at a score of 240, and resuming his innings on Wednesday, he surpassed 350+ and became only the 9th Indian batsman to do so in Ranji Trophy tournament. But the 23-year-old failed to reach the 400 mark as he fell lbw to leg spinner Riyan Parag on 379 in the last over before lunch.

Apart from Shaw, the Mumbai Captain Ajinkya Rahane 191 (302) also scored a decent centu♒ry. Rahane and Shaw built🍨 a 401-run partnership for the third wicket.

It waﷺs a really important inning for Shaw as he didn’t start the ongoing ꦐRanji season well and had scored just a single fifty in the last seven games.

Manjrekar posted a tweet reacting to Shaw’s inning, “Thrilled that my record of 377 was beaten by a batter I adore! Well done Prithvi!”

Speaking to The Indian♔ Express at the end of Day 1, Sha🐎w had said that his knock was a result of the hard work he had put in for the last few years.

“I was happy with the way I was batting (this season), just that I was not getting a big score,” told Shaw to The Indian Express.

“But when you are hungry to score runs and doing your process, you will eventually be rewarded. The innings was a result of the hard work I put into my game in the last few years.” he added.

With the help of Shaw’s triple hundred and Rahane’s ton, Mumbai declared the first inning on a massive total of 687 for the loss of 4 wickets.
