Excellent reflexes from wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant helped India get a crucial wicket in Bangladesh’s second innings on Day 4 of the ongoing first Test in Chattogram. Fast bowler Umesh Yadav finally broke the 124-run stand for the opening wicket between Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hossain.

It all happened in the 47th over when Shanto edged the ball straight to Virat Kohli in the first slip. But the former India skipper failed to complete the catch. Luckily, the ball deflected towards Pant – who showed his presence of mind – and dived to his left to hold on to a stunning catch.

Kohli was ecstatic to see the catch being taken while captain KL Rahul and bowler U🥃mesh were𓆉 relieved seeing the back of Shanto.

Here’s the video:

Shanto walked back to the pavilion for a well-made 67 off 156𒁏 balls, including seven boundaries. Chaꦺsing 513, he and debutant Hossain frustrated Indian bowlers during the first session.

Bangladesh♏ were bowled out for 150 in their fiඣrst innings, in reply to India’s 404. The visiting side didn’t enforce the follow-on and declared their second innings at 258-2 to set a record target for the hosts to chase.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also shared multiple pictures on Twitter of Pant’s stunning catch with the caption:

“Umesh Yadav with the breakthrough! A relay catch between Virat and Pant breaks the partnership. Najmul Hossain Shanto departs.”
