Bangladesh have kept themselves alive in the race to the semifinals of the ongoing T20 World Cup by defeating Zimbabwe in a thrilling contest at the Gabba in Brisbane on Sunday.
The game witnessed a highly intense drama on the final ball of the game when Zimbabwe needed 5 runs to win. Tailender Blessing Muzarabani🥂 failed to connect with the bat, and it appeared Bangladesh wrapped▨ up a four-run victory.
The players from both sides had shaken hands, with some of them were even back in the dugout. However, the replay showed that the wicketkeeper Nurul Hassan collected the ball in front of the stumps while afflicting the stumping, and hence the third 𒊎umpire deemed it a no-ball and an extra run was given to Zimbabwe.
The equation changed with four runs needed now of the final ball, but unfortunately for Zimbabwe, Muzarabani yet 🐽again failed to connect with the bat, and Bangladesh registered a thrilling three-run win.
Although, the biggest turning point of the game came in the penultimate over when Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan displayed top-notch fielding and effected a brilliant run-out to dismiss Sean Williams, who wa💮s the lone warrior for Zimbabwe in the ⛦chase.
It all happened when Zimbabwe required 19 runs off n♐ine balls, and Williams drove to the right of Shakib and ran for the single. The Bangladesh all-rounder showed his athleticism and quickly collected the ball, turned around and hit the stumps within ꦯa fraction of a second.
