Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) kept their playoffs hopes alive in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after a comprehensive win over Gujarat Titans (GT) that took them to 16 points and fourth place in the points table. Former skipper Virat Kohli roared back in form, top-scoring for his side in a clinical chase at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
From disciplined bowling and tremendous fielding to sensational batting, the Challengers ticked all the boxes to register a commanding 8-wic🦄ket victory after the Titans opted to bat first in a must-win game for RCB.
The Faf du Plessis-led Bangalore exhibited remarkable fielding, and a glimpse of that was seen when Glenn Maxwell took an absolute blinder to get rid of GT opener Shubman Gill. It all happened during the third over bowled by Josh Hazlewood when Gill poked at a wide away swinger that carried a thick outside edgꦗe and flew quickly in the slip cordon, where Maxwe𒀰ll was positioned already.
The white leather travelled fast, and for a moment, it seemed like the ball might pass the Victorian. Howeve🦋r, Maxwell was up for it as he put in a full-stretched dive to his right and plucked a one-handed screamer to send back Gill.

‘I practise that sort of stuff’: Maxwell on his spectacular catch
After the match, the Australian superstar expressed his take on the catch of Gill, stating that he practices regularly, and it wasn’t something out of the blue. Maxi said he works really hard to keep his fielding skills at the top.
“In my mind, I was moving a little bit too slow. Hit perfectly in the fingers and stuck nicely. I practise that sort of stuff, I have practised my whole life; it’s not something that’s just out of the blue. It’s something I work really hard on. Gave us the right start, and we were able to control the powerplay after that,” said Maxwell while talking to broadcaster Simon Doull after the match.
