Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is undoubtedly a man of emotions and doesn’t try to hide that. Like his reactions after a loss, his celebrations after a victory are also full of energy. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team mentor was overjoyed after his side beat the Kolkജata Knight Riders (KKR) by two runs in a thrilling c⛄ontest at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.
With the nail-biting victory, the KL Rahul-led side is now the second team to qualify for the all-important playoffs in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after Gujarat Titans (GT). A video clip of Gambhir’s one-of-a-kind celebration has gone viral on social media. The Delhi-born cricketer can be seen jumping off his chair and cheering for his team along with the other members of the support staff.
Gambhir was, in fact, largely emotionless while sitting in the LSG dugout during the latter stages of KKR’s chase, but his emotions knew no bounds once Marcus Stoinis turned things around for his ⛎side in the fina⛎l two deliveries of the thrilling match.
Gambhir was first seen banging the table a few times when Evin Lewis took an absolute screamer to cut short Rinku Singh‘s innings, who almost sealed the deal for KKR. Rinku demolished Stoinis with 4, 6, 6, and 2 in the first four deliveries to bring the equation down to 3 needed off the last two balls. On the fifth delivery, the left-handed batter again went for a biggie but couldn’t time the ball perfectly.
For a while, it appeared that the white leather would land between the two fielders. But Lewis, from a deep backward point, stormed in and stretched out his left hand to pluck a stunner to pack Rinku’s knock of 40 from 15 balls.
With 3 needed off the final ball, it was anybody’s game. Despite being expensive, Stoinis held his nerve and landed the perfect yorker to uproot Umesh Yadav‘s off-stump and secure a thrilling two-run win for LSG as Gambhir, along with all the members and players, drawn in the celebration.
