In the fifth match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Rajasthan Royals (RR) thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 61 runs at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Tues🦩day.
Chasing the massive target of 211 runs, Sunrisers never really looked at any momentum as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and failed to speed up the run rate. SRH lost five wickets for just 37 runs in 10.2 overs before Aiden Markram, and Romario Shepherd tried to steady the innings. The duo added 41 runs for the sixth wicket before Yuzvendra Chahal got rid of Shepherd for 24.
Markram then formed another crucial partnership with all-rounder Washington Sundar. The💧 pair tried their best and added 55 runs for the seventh wicket before Sundar was removed by Trent Boul🥂t for a quickfire 14-ball 40, including five fours and a couple of sixes.
Markram stayed unbeaten on 57 off 41 deliveries but couldn’t take his side over the finish line as the Sunrisers lost the contest by 61 runs.
Earlier, led by a blistering half-century by skipper Sanju Samson, the Royals put up a humungous total of 210 on the board after SRH captain Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bowl first.
During his explosive batting display, Samson also broke a long-standing record of legendary Australian all-rounder Shane Watson. Samson smashed five maximums in the game and leapfrogged Watson’s record for the most sixes hit by a RR player in the history of the IPL.
Most sixes for Rajasthan Royals in IPL history:
- 110 – Sanju Samson
- 109 – Shane Watson
- 67 – Jos Buttler
- 61 – Yusuf Pathan
- 53 – Ajinkya Rahane
Apart from Samson, Jos Buttler (35), Devdutt Padikkal (41), and Shimron Hetmyer (32) chipped 🐼with valuable cameos to help Rajasthan post the highest total so far in the ongoing fifteenth season of 💦the cash-rich league.

Ashwin's lengths superb. Great control. The spinners had an easy job today but already looks like Ashwin and Chahal will be a top combination.

Like everyone even 🌼I am surprised isn’t in the Indian team. Maybe this team management will be more encouraging and patient with him. He has it in ꦏhim. Needs someone to back him and allow him the freedom to play his game

This is some effoꦰrt from the brilliant stuff. showing his 🍬potential yet again and now Boult and Prasidh with real pace and swing. Getting one sided.

There is no way you can keep Sanju Samson out of India's T20 World Cup squad. ABSOLUTELY NO WAY!
The shots Samson has played both against pace and spin in this innings show why he wil𓆏l be so useful on Australian decks. |
