H🃏owever, on the same day, the sub-continent cricket lovers received terrible news about the cancellation of the much-awaited Asia Cup.

“Asia Cup cancel ho chuka hai, joh September me tha (Asia Cup, which was to be held in September, has been cancelled),” said the former India captain.
Now, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who were the organisers of Asia Cup 2020, has reacted to Ganguly’s claims. The Media Director of PCB, Samiul Hasan Burney opined that Ganguly’s statement regarding the cancellation of Asia Cup 2020 has no merit. He said that it’s up to the ACC (Asian Cricket Council) to decide on the fate of the tournament.
“The statements made by Sourav Ganguly have no impact on proceedings. Even if he passes comments every week, they do not hold weight or merit,” said Hasan as quoted by HT.
“The decision regarding the Asia Cup will be taken by the ACC. The announcement can only be made by the president of the Asian body Nazmul Hasan. To the best of our knowledge, the schedule of the next ACC meeting is yet to be announced,” he added.
Earlier, Ganguly had also spoken about the possibility of India’s first series post coronavirus pandemic. The Kolkata-born said that the apex Indian body is in no hurry to organise any series as the player’s safety is the ultimate goal.
“It’s difficult to say which will be India’s first international series. We’ve done our preparations, but we can’t do much till we know the government rules. We are not in a hurry because the health of players is of the utmost importance. We are monitoring things monthly,” Ganguly had said.
