The ‘Fab Four’ of the cricketing parlance needs no introduction even to the casual viewers of the game. The elite league includes Virat Kohli, Steven Smith, Kane Williamson, and Joe Root. While they all play for different nations with a varied approach and distinct playing styles, some common characteristics bind them all.
All these players are the most vi🦂tal cog of their nation; they come at highly crucial No. 3 or No. 4 batting positions. They are often expected to rise to the occasion and win matches.
Further, there’s constant debate over one’s superiority over the others, and both fans and experts of the game often indulge in this task and put forth their views.
In a recent interview with Anis Sajan, England batting maestro Jason Roy has revealed his preference on the b꧅est batsman of the modern era.
For🅷 Roy, it was a natural choice. He went with his compatriot and English Test skipper Jason R💫oy.
“I have to say one of my good pals Joe Root for sure, he’s an absolute gun,” remarked Roy.
Root missed the first Test match of the post-pandemic era against West Indies due to the birth of his second chil🅺d. In his absence, Ben Stokes is leading the side.
There’s no place for Roy in the Test squad after he failed miserably to put up a decent show in the Ashes 2019.
Roy further talked aboಞut his hero of the gam🧸e while growing up. He said South African all-rounder Lance Klusener attracted him a lot due to his flamboyance and all-round skills.
“I watched cricket but didn’t know who the players were. Lance Klusener attracted me because of his all-round skills and flamboyance. When I started playing professional cricketer, I played with and against a lot of them- Kevin Pietersen, Kumar Sangakkara, Hashim Amla, Ricky Ponting, Graeme Smith, Tilakaratne Dilshan to name a few. As a youngster, I played alongside them while being in Surrey,” stated Roy.
