In recent weeks, former England ca🌜ptain Nasser Hussai﷽n has been pretty vocal about Sourav Ganguly’s old habit of making captain of the opposition wait before the toss.
Even former Australian captain Steve Waugh expressed his frustration while waiting for ‘Dada’ to arrive at the෴ toss.
During a recent interaction with Mayank Agarwal in ‘Open Nets with Mayank’, Ganguly justified his thinking b🌌ehind making captains wait for t🍌he toss.
In Dada’s words, making the opposition captain wait for the toss got onto their nerves and in turn, affecte✱d thei💧r performances.
According to the current BCCI President, it all started with an accide🎀nt but observing its effects working on the opposition, helped him sustain his habit.
Now, ex-India international Irfan Pathan has concurred the statement by c𒊎laiming t𒅌hat Ganguly used to take his own sweet time to get ready for the toss, making opposition captain wait.
“On my first tour of Australia, when he made Steve Waugh wait, I remember it clearly. I would be in the dressing room and I remember whenever it was time for the toss, Dada used to look at the clock, and the manager would remind him that it’s time to go out for the toss.” Pathan rec🍌alled on Star Sports’ show ‘Cricket Connected’.
Despite last calls from Sachin Tendulkar and the manager, Sourav used to take his time to fix his cap, tie shoelaces and adjusting ౠhis sweater.
“During the Sydney Test, I remember it was Sachin paaji who said ‘Dada, you should go. It’s time f🐠or the toss’. But Dada would take his sweet time to put on his shoes, sweater; adjusting his cap,” Pathan added.
In the end, Pathan suggested that for a normal human being, when late, pressure is quite visible on th♑e face. However, when looking a🔯t Dada being late, Pathan asserted that he remained unperturbed.
“When a person is getting late, the pressure be﷽comes visible on his face but Dada would never be in a hurry,” Paꦿthan concluded.
Reliving some of the best Dada 🅘memor🌼ies, especially the ones around toss time 😁
