Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Tuesday, announced that former batsman Younis Khan has been appointed the team’s batting coach for the upcoming tour of England. Also, leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed, who played 52 Tests for Pakistan, will now be the spin bowling coach.
The board added that💛 the appointments hav⛦e been made to facilitate head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and fast-bowling coach Waqar Younis.
PCB further stated that additional players will be sent to Engla⛄nd to provide them with the best training and preparation oppℱortunities.
Commenting on his appointment, Younis sai🔯d🙈 that he is privileged to have been offered the opportunity to serve the country for the challenging but exciting tour of England.
“I have never been shy of sharing my experiences and knowledge and I think this particular tour provides me with an ideal opportunity where I can spend post-training time with the players to engage with them on batting techniques, bowler assessments, mental toughness exercises besides talking them through with scenario planning,” he was quoted as saying in the PCB’s press release.
“We all know English conditions demand not only precise technique but patience and discipline, and if you can master these, then you will not only excel in England but anywhere in the world. With the quality we have in the team, I think we have a good chance to produce good results if we prepare properly, get our processes right and hit the ground running as soon as we land.”
The 42-year-🌺old Khan has an impre꧋ssive record when it comes to playing in English conditions. He scored 810 runs in 16 innings at an average of 50.62 with a top score of 218.
Pakistan🍸 will likely play three tests and three 💮T20Is in England with the first Test, likely to start from August 5. However, the final itinerary is yet to be decided due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
