Virat Kohli has often spoken about the role his father played in helping him become the cricketer and the man he is today. The Indian skipper’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma had once revealed that it was Virat’s father and brother who took him to his cricket academy years ago.

Unfortunately, Virat’s dad Prem Kohli didn’t see his son becoming one of India’s most loved and famous cricketers.

Prem Kohli passed away in 2006 when Virat was in his teenage. And as it has been shared on numerous occasions that on that day Virat was playing a match for Delhi. He performed his father’s last rites and came back to resume his innings the next day, helping his team. His coach and teammates lauded Virat for his determination and will power.

Well, the 31-year-old still misses his father and has said in interviews that he regrets not being💦 able to give his father a great and comfortable life after retirement, due to his untimely d🤡emise.

Today, on Father’s day, Virat shared an o♏ld photo ꦇof him along with his dad somewhere on vacation and posted it on his Twitter account with a heartfelt caption.

“This father’s day, I urge you all to be grateful for the love of your father but always look for your own path to move forward in life. You’ll never have to look behind because they’re always watching over you whether they’re physically there or not. Happy father’s day,” the caption read.

‘Super Hero’ father inspires Virat Kohli

Virat once revealed that it was his father’s efforts that made it easier for him to pursue cricket as a career option and that he will always remain his favourite ‘Super Hero’.

“Many people can inspire or motivate you, but when someone sets an example in front of you, the impact is different. Because of this, he has been my Super Hero. Due to his personality and decisions, my career path became simple that I had to move ahead only by working hard. If I succeed then it was written in my destiny, if it was not there, then I was not good enough… after that, I stopped making excuses. I think it happened because of him, as things happened in front of me and so he is my Super Hero,” Kohli had said at a promotional event last year.
