Amid worldwide COVID-19🎃 pandemic, super cyclones hitting the shores of I🅠ndia, another disheartening report surfaced, this time from Kerala.
One of the pr🅺egnant elephants, in search of food from a nearby national park, ingested a pineapple laced with f💞irecrackers.
The fruit burst in the lower jaw of the animal, who went through excruciating pain in her final moments. Even while taking her last breaths, the mammal did not go rogue by attacking houses or villagers, instead d♋ied standing in water, to tend to her injuries.
Reportedly, the incident occurred on May 27 near Malappuram, and it came into lig🎶ht recently after the Forest Officer revealed the shocking details of the case through his Facebook post.
It remains unknown whether any hooligan fed the fruit deliberately to the pregnant elephant or the animal ate the pineap꧑ple mistakenly which was kept for𒆙 the wild boars which destroy farms.
“She trusted everyone. When the pineapple she ate exploded, she must have been shocked not thinking about herself, but about the child, she was going to give birth to in 18 to 20 months,” forest officer Mohan Krishnan, wrote on Facebook. He was also part of the Rapid Response Team for the rescue of the elephant.
Nevertheless, the poor elephant, which appeared malnourishe🌠d, paid the ultimate price in search of food, succumbing to hunger.
As soon as the post went viral all over social media, Indian cricketers, namely, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and many other prominent Indian cricketers conꦏdemned the incident, demanding an end to the animal cruelty.
“Appalled to hear about what happened in Kerala. Let’s treat our animals with love and bring an end to these cowardly acts,” Kohli’s post on Twitter captioned.
