Two-time World Cup-winning all-rounder, Yuvr𝔍aj Singh, recently registered his a🎐mbitions of featuring in the commentary box, albeit conditionally.
Yuvi only intends to commen🐓tate on ICC events, and not take it as a full-time career option. He talked about his desires to voic𒈔e his opinion on the game in matches during his recent conversation with Mohammed Kaif in an Instagram Live session.
Even Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar have made appearance♚s in commentary box pre✤viously only during major ICC events, such as the ODI World Cup in 2019.
Moreover, Yuvi di♛d mention the reason for his decision to not becoming a full-time commentator. According t🅠o the limited-overs format legend, he cannot stand with a few commentators, to share the mic throughout the calendar to pursue a full-time option.
“There are certain people I cannot tolerate in the commentary box. So I do not think I have the stomach to do it all the time. I do want to try my hand at commentary during the ICC events,” Yuvraj told Kaif during his conversation.
“The players who are on the field only know about the pressure they are going through. I do not want to criticize the young players, and this is the reason I do not want to do commentary, but it is important to let the youngsters know about what they are doing. So you have to strike a balance,” added Yuvraj.
Kaif and Yuvraj were responsible for the significant turnaround in the 2002 Natwest Finals at Lord’s, with their game-changing partnership of 121. The two revolutionized the art of fielding being placed at Covers and Point.
“We have been cricketers ourselves. So we know we cannot get that critical. A balance needs to be struck, and commentary should be done accordingly,” concluded Yuvraj Singh.
The likes of VVS Laxman, Aakash Chopra, Sunil Gavaskar, and Sanjay Manjrekar 🍌have had a successful stint as commentators after retiring from the game.
