BCCI Pres♊ident, Sourav Ganguly, has claimed that India had taken a backseat when it comes to cricketing action in India. Ganguly does not see any cricket in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
This makes the conduct of the 2020 🧜edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and T20 World Cup in jeopardy. Several countrie💟s have also prohibited migration, with the airline industry in the standstill.
Dada, on Wednesday, was asked about the possibilities🐬 of resumption of sporting action in the country, looking at Germany’s premier football league, Bundesliga, which is all set to be played in front of empty stands. Th♊ere have been talks regarding the fate of this season’s IPL undergoing the same.
Also, Ganguly believed that human lives are too pr༺e♋cious to be taken the risk with, in comparison to cricket.
“The social reality of Germany and India are different, there will be no cricket in India in the near future. There are too many ifs and buts involved. More importantly, I don’t believe in sport when there is a risk to human life.” Sourav Ganguly told TOI.
The marquee cricketing event of the year, the ICC T20 World Cup, was scheduled to be held in Australia in October and November. ICC’s CEO remarked that apex cricket🎉ing body is closely monitoring developments and are in talks with t𝄹he Australian government.
“In relation to ICC events, including the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, we will continue to take advice from experts and authorities, including the Australian government. We will utilize all of the data and information available to us to ensure we can take responsible decisions around all competitions at an appropriate time that are in the best interests of our sport,” the ICC Chief Executive Sawhney commented.
