BCCI not discussing IPL 2020 in Sri Lanka amid COVID-19 pandemic
IPL T20

For the past few days, speculations about Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) getting ready to host IPL 2020 has been gaining momentum. But if the recent reports are to be believed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for now is not willing to discuss the proposal in a “closed world” which is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a report in TOI, the BCCI sources feel that there is no point right now in discussing the proposal by the Sri Lankan board. The 13th seaso🥂n of the IPL, which was scheduled to begin from March 29, was postponed until🎃 April 15 before the BCCI decided to suspend it indefinitely amid a nationwide lockdown.

“The BCCI will not be in a position to say anything when the world is closed. There is no proposal from SLC yet and obviously no,” the source was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

Earlier, SLC president Shammi Silva had said that the Island nation is ready to host the IPL 2020 since it is expected to recover sooner than India owing to a fewer number of Coronavirus positive cas🍷es.

With international flights suspended and most of the cricket playing nations under lo😼ckdown, it remains to be seen whether the IPL moves to Sri Lanka or takes place in India. But given how BCCI is keen on discussing the matter only after the situation gets normal in the country, it can be safely assum๊ed that the tournament is months away.

Meanwhile, in Sri Lanka, 200 COVID-19 cases have been reported thus far with India’s tally exceeding 13,500. In India, the death tolls have gone above the 400-mark.
