India Legends started the Road Safety World Series 2020 on a winning note as they defeated West Indies Legend by seven wickets in the tournament opener at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on♑ Saturday, March 07.
After put in to bat, the Men in Maroon were off to a great start with Daren Ganga and Shivnarine Chanderpaul stitching a 40-run partnership for the opening wicket. Captain Brian Lara came to bat at No. 3 and played a couple of delightful strokes before departing f♐or 17.
Chanderpaul was the star with the willow for West Indies Legends as h🔯e slammed 61 runs off just 41 balls whereas, Tino Best played an entertaining cameꦬo of 11 not-out off five balls to take his side to 150.
While 150-8 looked a competitive total given the age of the yesteryear legends, however, India Legends’ openers, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag made the chase look easy.
After Tendulkar was dismissed for 36 off 29, Mohammed Kaif played a good cameo but it was Sehwag who took India Legends ov🃏e🎐r the finishing line.
Viru was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ for his quickfire 74* off 57 balls.
