Former Indian cricketer an꧙d BJP MLA, Gautam Gambhir vowed to contribute INR 50 lakhs for the treatment of COVID-19 victims ﷺon Monday.
A global pandemic has hit the world in the form of Coronavirus, which is taking lives every day. COVID-19 has also hit the shores of India, and the ent🎃ire country was put to an absolute lockdown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.
“In furtherance of the united effort to save our city and citizens from this pandemic, I would like to pledge ₹50 lakh from my MPLAD fund for equipment that may be needed for Covid-19 treatment in state government hospitals,” Gambhir wrote in a letter to Delhi Chief Minis💙ter, Arvind Kejriwal.
Renowned for his philanthropism, Gambhir further appealed to his fellow countrymen not to stepꦑ out of the house on numerous occasions using social med🔯ia.
“Khud bhee jayenge aur parivaar ko bhee leke 🐲jayenge, quarantine orജ jail (either you go to quarantine with family, or you go to jail,” Gambhir tweeted recently.
Despite several warnings from the Prime Minister, there have been reports of the public not obeying the lockdown. Thereby,ꦕ jeopardizing the safety 🧜of the community.
“Don’t be a threat to soci🏅ety. We are at war for our existence, not for our liveliℱhood. Follow the government’s lockdown guidelines.”
Many cricketers, along with Gambhir, have taken it as an opportunity to motivate people to ‘play’ for the country, by staying indoo👍rs, prohibiting community transmission.
