India suffered a heart-breaking loss on the big stage of an ICC tournament yet again. This time at the Women’s T20 World Cup Final at MCG on Sunday, to break hearts of a million or two.
Be it the senior men’s team, women’s team or the recent U19 team, India just seems not to be able to cross the final frontier, despite consistently excelling in tournaments.
Much like the World Cup final against England in 2017, the Indian women lost ꧑to host Australia who were impeccable on the given day.
In the end, it was the long-layoff since their last game on the field, which cost them the finals, 🅠with a r𝓰usty show on the field.
Indian batting order crumbled as their ace opener Shafali Verma went early. The 16-year-old Verma who lit up the tournament with her cameos, appeared devastated as she dropped the catch of Alyssa Healy.
Meanwhile, Twitterati gave their verdict on the Indian loss. Many che♏ered the Indian women for their effort, while some mocked India for their defeat at the big stage.
Commentator Aakash Chopra gave an excellent reply to 🥀one of the Pakistan cricket fans who reminded h❀im about the Champions Trophy final.
To which Chopra replied, “How many knockouts did your team play since that final? Men and Women included. Jinke ghar sheeshe ke hote hain voh light jala ke kapde nahin badalte, dost.”
‘Those have glass-walled houses do not change clothes with lights on’ in translation for the famous Hindi saying.
Here’s the tweet:
