Legendary cricketers from across the globe gathered together to play a charity match at Junction Oval in Melbourne to raise money for Australia’s Bushfire relief campaign, on Sunday.

A 10-over per side contest was held between Ricky Ponting XI and Adam Gilchrist XI, where the former team won by one run.

During the match, Australian great Matthew Hayden did something which caught everyone’s attention. The 48-year-old was given the task of bowling by the skipper Ponting. While coming into the attack, the former opener looked a bit uncomfortable with his spikes, so he decided to remove his shoes.

Hayden took the umpire’s help to remove his shoes and socks. He then bowled his over barefoot. The Kingaroy-born was hammered for two boundaries in the over by former Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds and eventually gave away 12 runs in his over.

After the game, Cricket Australia informed that 🍰they have raised over 7.7 million Australian do𒁃llars.

“Thanks to the incredible generosity from Australia and around the globe, we’ve raised over Aus$7.7 million to support communities and families impacted by the recent bushfires,” tweeted Cricket Australia.
