Virat Kohli’s horror run in New Zealand continues as the Indian skipper was dismissed for three on Day 1 of the ongoing second Test in Christchurch on Saturday.
Kohli’s hundred-less run extended to 21 innings in international cricket. He has now managed just 204 runs in 10 innings with only one fifty on the ongoing tour of New Zealand.
Having survived a ♉tricky period of 15 minutes before the lunch break, Kohli got out in the second over after the break at ⛦the Hagley Oval.
The ꩵ31-year-old missed a straight ball from Tim Southee and was adjudged LBW for 3.
Notably, the Delhi-lad went for a review after discussing with non-striker Cheteshwar Pujara for a considerable amount of time even as the call looked plumb. As it turned out, there were 3 reds and the on-field umpire’s decision stayed.
Kohli has had a history of poor DRS calls. As a batsman, he has found success in only 2 out of 13 DRS reviews in Test cricket. Clearly, Twitterati wasn’t happy with Kohli wasting yet another review.
Here’s how the fans reacted on Twitter:
Selfish act from Kohli. Being a captain he shouldn't have taken that review. I hope it doesn't affect us.

Getting out when your not in ꦬform is acceptable but wasting a review will hurt the team further..
Kohli 🥴

This review is bizzare from Kohli! That was dead 📖plumb yet he took𝕴 review
— DK (@Dileep_RF)
Why would review that? It was plumb. Team had already lost one review. 7 wickets still remaining. Team is 0-1 down, not the thing that you would expect a captain to do. And is Pujara watching girls in the stand? Why he didn't stop Kohli?

You just can't waste a review like this even if you are Virat Kohli.

Virat kohli given out LBW and he review that without consulting pujara.. and ball hitting middle of middle..this is how you have to waste your review and ensures that other batsman don't get option of DRS .
Great selfish player for some reason— A क्ष ಯ 🚩 (@bagga_daku)
Quite simply. shouldn't take review if he doesn't think it's a howler.

Is that stupidest DRS ever? Worse than Watto!

Selfish Kohli…Let others also use the reviews..He is letting down himself as well as the team#NZvIND
