Australia’s front line pacer Mitchell Starc has opted out of the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). Due to the preparations for the 2019 World Cup, the left-arm bowler didn’t participate in the previous edition of IPL as well.
The last time Starc was seen playing the IPL m൩atches was when he represented Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in 20𝓰15.
In the 2018 IPL auction, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought ✱the paceman for INR 9.4 crore, but he remained unavailable for the entire tournament due to injury.
Recently, a total of 971 players have registered tꦡhemsel♕ves for the IPL 2020 Auction which is scheduled to take place in Kolkata on December 19.
However, other Aussie players like Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch and Chris Lynn have registered their names for the mega auction. Apart from Starc, England’s Test skipper Joe Root has also opted out from the IPL 2020.
Starc was the leading wicket-taker in the recently concluded two-match Test series against Pakistan. He claimed 14 wickets and dismantled Pakistan’s batting unit in both the Tests.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Starc’s decision of opting out of IPL 2020 auction:
