Mushfiqur Rahim, the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman from Bangladesh, has decided not to participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. The players’ auction for IPL 2020 will take place on December 19 in Kolkata. This time there are 971 players (713 Indians and 258 overseas) available to go under the hammer.
In the past, Rahim has been a part of the IPL auction, and that too two times, but he we🧸nt unsold on both the occasions. Recently, he donned the green jersey for Bangladesh in the three-match T20I series against India.
In the opening game, the wicketkeeper played a match-winning knock at Arun Jaitley Stadiuꦰm in New Delhi that helped his team to register a victory against India for the first time in T20Is.
However, Rahim is not the only player who has shown no interest in the cash-rich IPL. Earlier, Australian pacer Mit♓chell Starc and England Test skipper Joe Root pulled out their names from the auction.
The 32-year-old Mushfiqur will now be playing for the Khulna Tigers in the 2019-20 edi🃏tion of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), which begins on December 11.
So no♚w, the upcoming IPL auction will feature six players from Bangladesh, namely Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah Riyad, Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, and Soumya Sarkar.
Apꦜart from Rahim, another Bangladeshi star player who would not be seen playing in the IPL is Shakib Al Hasan. Recently, Sunrisers Hyderabad released Shakib due to﷽ a ban imposed on him by the ICC.
