In the first ODI of the 5-match series against South Africa, India wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatia gave her fans a moment to remember. Bhati🅘a did an MS꧑ Dhoni to send Trisha Chetty packing for 14 runs at the Reliance Stadium in Vadodara.
It all happened on the third delivery of the eight over when Shetty’s attempt to play a slog sweep off India spinner Ekta Bisht saw her walking back to the pavilion.
Having lost her balance while playing the shot, Chetty gave Bhatia a brief chance of dislodging🐎 the bails with her foot outside the crease. With Taniya removing the bails on time, India was prosperous in dismissing the Proteas wicketkeeper cheaply.

After stumping Chetty, Bhatia effected another dismissal of Bisht’s bowling when she stumped Mignon du Preez in the 12th over ensuring the South African top-order couldn’t make much of an impact with the bat. Jhulan Goswami was the wrecker-in-chief for India as he picked up a three-wicket haul to skittle out the visitors for a paltry 164 in 45.1 overs.
In r🀅eply, debutant Priya Punia (75 not out) took charge of India after being sent as an opener. She combined with Jemimah Rodrigues (55) got India off to a strong start with an 83-run stand for the first wicket.
Punia then added an unbeaten stand of 37 runs for ꧂the third wicket with captain Mitali Raj (11*) to take India home.
