Rahkeem Cornwall has treated fans in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) to some breathtaki▨ng power-hittingꦰ at the top of the order this year.
But running between the wickets isn’t his specialty, as his team St Lucia Zouks were comically reminded of on Thursday.
Opening for Zouks against Guyan🅺a Amazon Warriors, Cornwall was six off 12 balls before he trotted through for a comfortabl꧅e single off the bat of his team-mate Colin Ingram.
Cornwall, the 1.98m, 140kg off-spinning allrounder, was well home but didn’t adhere to one of the most important lessons of cricket: always slide your bat. Replays showed Cornwall’s bat was clearly in the air when the bails were removed, much to the surprise of commentator Danny Morrison.
“Rahkeem you’ve got to slide the blade… he’d better go back to the hotel and hide,” Morrison bellowed.
“That is embarrassing. It really is embarrassing for Rahkeem Cornwall,” said the Windies commentator, Ian Bishop.

The Zouks went on lose the game by eight wickets after post⛦ing a total of 161 for 7, with Black Caps allrounder Colin de Grandhomme leading the way for the hosts with a blistering 65 off 37 balls including three fours and five sixes.
