After dropping two catches in the match, Martin Guptill redeems himself with a sensational catch to send Steve Smith packing in the World Cup league fixture between New Zealand and Australia at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Saturday.
It all happened in the 12th over of the match. A well-executed short-pitched delivery from New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson was aimed at Smith’s body and the right-hander shuffled a bit before going for the pull.
However, Gupti🔴ll was stationed at leg gully and took a stunning one-handed catch to get rid of the former Aussies skipper for 5 (8).
This was also the second instanc♕e in this tournament that Smith fell to a blinder, after previously ꦕlosing his wicket against the Windies to a superhuman effort by Sheldon Cottrell.
You little ripper ….. Well bowled Lockie

Now that is the catch of the tournament from M.Guptiꦗll.

That Guptill catch is arguaby better than Stokes’ and Cottrell’s (the latter being of the same batsman – Smith). Standing at leg gully like that means Guptill’s view of the ball is obscured. To react that quickly and still hold on is astonishing.
