England fast bowler Jimmy Anderson has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for an incident that occurred during his captivating b✃attle with I🦩ndian captain Virat Kohli in the fifth Test, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed on Sunday.
Anderson was deemed to have shown dissent at an umpiring decision on Day 2 of the final Test match at The Oval, violating the ICC’s Code of Conduct.
“Anderson snatched his cap and jumper from umpire Kumar Dharmasena and then spoke to him in an aggressive manner following an unsuccessful LBW review against Virat Kohli,” the ICC said in a statement.
The 36-year-old quick admitted the offence an🌠d accepted t🍌he sanction, with one demerit point added to his disciplinary record. It was his first offence since the introduction of the revised ICC Code in September 2016.
The charges on Anderson were levelled by on-field umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Joel Wilson, third umpir🌞e Bruce Oxenford, all from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires, and fourth umpire Tim Robinson.
Anderson and Kohli have built a storied rivalry but the English paceman is yet to dismiss the India captain in the ongoing series. And with Kohli falling to Ben Stokes on 49, Anderson has just one more innings left to get the p🐬rized scalp of the leading ruꦇn-getter of the ongoing five-Test series.
